Hello, fellow mylotters hope you are having a nice day. Some say that 2012 maybe the end of the universe as we know it. But I have decided that I would make my new year’s resolutions early.
I write for several writing sites and now I want to write short stories. I always wanted to expand my writing for bidding sites as well as magazine or ezine articles later. Right now I am studying a course for starting a writing business.
Then I will take a short story or created writing course. My other goals are to be ready nanowrimo and the short story contest in one of my local newspaper. Hopefully by the time these writing contests come around in 2012 I will be ready to enter them.

A writing business course? They exist? What on earth do they teach you apart from how to set your rate and keep business records?
Definitely go for NaNo next year. I'm doing it this year and, although it scares the willies out of me, I'm really looking forward to it. It might finally push me to spew the story out of my head onto paper. Well, virtual paper...
I have a lot of goals for next year, though some are just pipe dreams at the moment. Gonna get the current book to publishing and do NaNo next month, so hopefully that will lead to a proper rewrite, editing and publishing of a novel some time in the new year.
I have a project for a web business as well that's writing-related, though I need to do some research to see if it's viable (since I don't know diddly about the financial side).
I also have to decide if I want to step into my main client's business a lot more or keep it at arm's length. That's a tough decision, since it'd be nice money but I'm not really passionate about it.
I'd kinda like to write a follow-up to the freelancing book, too, if I have any good ideas for it. Plus, if I don't go for the web business thing, I should do more for article marketplace sales and/or rev share.
A part of me is also tempted to try to land a column or editorial somewhere, though that's kinda public and scary compared to the ghostwriting I do most of the time!!

The course is just a come on to sell you some products that they are marketing. I've only received 3 emails from the so-called writing course and one was about two freelance writing sites and their list of 30 websites that pays you to write.
That all I have received so far, but I know it won't be anything that I don't already know about writing online for pay.

you are a writer, aren't you? from what you have written here, I find it so interesting to hear your short story because I like reading and yes writings. so maybe the end of the universe is bound to come, I still have some plans and want to challenge everything before the doom day. The first thing I want to challenge is to write a book though I have never published even one little book, it is my dream, dream to be a person who can left something to the next generation after passing away. And the second is to learn as much new languages as I could in the rest of my time. what about you guys?

Hello conquer2012. I see there you like to read a lot and to write too. I think many mylotters like that. Maybe this is one of the reasons why we are there. I like to read a lot with voice, to improve my English. I saw some circles, groups online where even english native speakers read literature stories, fairy tails. Was very nice for me to listen to them. I believe that if we'll have more fun stories will be great for us to use it for improving a language, to feel good, so on. Me too I want to learn more languages. But about something after me... I am not sure. I want that people around me to know me now, in life. After that... I am not sure:). Life is good now. See you soon! Cata

Hi Sirnose, you have started a very encouraging discussion.
I have not thought about 2012 yet!
While I have made some short term goals, such as getting the first 1000 page views, and then the first payout from Experts column, these are the goals till the end of the year.
Glad to hear that you have a concrete plan to achieve your targets.

Yes, I have tried to set goals for the doomsday year 2012 just to keep busy and worry about earning a nice online income. I want 2012 to be my break out year with my writings. I see that you have and informative blog I been checking it out. You cover a lot of topics including writing.
Is Expert Column worth the time and effort or is it just a way to build up one's portfolio.

Hi kaeirole. Me too I have not goals for next year. I like to fly with the wind or to swim into the water so I don't make plans. I like to feel the present, now. I've read somewhere that the present is now only 27 seconds :). So the future will be there very fast. I believe it's better to enjoy to be happy now, to feel the life now not tomorrow. Maybe is good to have plans, who know. For me life is wonderful now, not in the future. This is one of the reasons why I like to read or to listen stories. We can sent to each other some feelings using voice, stress on words, emotions so on. Now I think if is good to have plans or not:). See you soon! Cata

That is cool. I have a really bad imagination so I completely suck at writing short stories, so I have crossed that type of goal/career off my list. I enjoy writing about real world realistic things though.

Welcome to mylot autographman820. well if you have some writing ability you don't need that much imagination just a lot of determination. This is all I have but I think it's time to start branching out into new areas.
I have been here at mylot for nearly 5 yrs. now and I need to try other writings genres. I hope you enjoy yourself here at mylot and thanks for responding.

Hi sirnose! Good luck to you. Like you I am also setting goals for 2012. Yes some people say 2012 will be the end of the world but nobody would really know. I don't want to spend my days thinking about it. I just always pray for our safety. My 2012 is mainly related to saving money. We would like to have our own house and lot, hopefully we could also buy a vehicle. I know we can't buy both next year but we are aiming to save at least a small percentage of the said future expenses.

I don't think I will reach my writing goals for 2011, which is to have 1000 articles written. I have written slightly more than 500 and I don't think it is possible to write close to 500 in the next two months. It would mean that I would have to write almost 10 articles per day consistently. It's just not feasible.
But I guess, I will continue to strive for that goal in 2012. I'm hoping to get a book published in 2012, preferably a children's book or a funny book for pregnant couples.
I also would like to start an online business that can run on autopilot. Still in the brainstorming process.

How do you find the time to research all them articles? Researching the subject or topic is by far the hardest task to writing period. You are on the right track about writing an eBook and creating an autopilot business. These are areas I have been exploring also. I think that starting the autopilot business is easier than writing a eBook.

Only got to response a few lines last night as I didn't want to lose you, thanks for being friends.
I always make writing goals and never ever keep them, lok forward to chatting to you on mylot about writing. Perhaps I'll get on better next year.
Small goals are best, I think I make my goals too big and have too many on the go. I think I shall have to re sort my stuff out and perhaps make a plan of what to write and give myself deadlines, make myself up a writing course with a proper plan and perhaps make a slot every week to write , a bit like going out to a college course as its easy to be lazy at home when you can get lazy and think I'll do it tomorrow.
I have so many very good ideas and am sure my ideas if written up will sell as they are really good ideas and its stuff that I know that I would read about and take notes from etc!!
I'M JUST LAZY!!!!!! Must get my act together, but thats what I'm always telling myself!!
Hope you have a good day and would love to hear more about your writing course you are going to do etc.

Hi Anne18, I think you have to make some goals that are very easy to keep, and keep you motivated as well.
If you are writing for a certain site that gives you many statistics, you can aim for certain statistic, such as the number of page views.
For example, getting the first 1000 page views, then the next 1000 page views.
When you see that you are just 50 page views away from your goal, then you will be motivated to write one more article.
When I first joined Triond, I made a goal of writing ten articles per day.
I managed to keep the goal for about two months, then I became rather lazy.
Now I hard write to Triond, except when there is a special challenge, with increase in payment.

I have no goals set for the year 2012. I always admire those who know what they want and think ahead of time to make their goals achievable. Anyway, I still have issues with grammar and punctuation, it turns out that they are not as strong as I want them to be. Good luck getting there.

Hello sirnose. I like to write a lot too. I am intermediate in using English. This is the first reason why I stoped to write for magazines, sites, e-zines so on. But I read a lot. So if you write I want to give you an idea. Try to read aloud, with voice your articles, your stories to see if them are useful for people who really like to read or to listen. Maybe you'll show me some stories from you. I look for stories with audio files atached on its. That is most useful for people who learn English. Same time you can think about using your stories in Reading Circles. I'll try to build more reading circles online. I saw that is very nice, relaxing, useful to read stories online in groups. We can talk more about that! See you soon! Cata
