Have you seen yourself alone in your house doing nothing? You just sit there, stare outside the windows and count the number of people passing your street. You don't have anything better to do so you decided to eat. Maybe some chips would make you feel better about your life. You sink in your teeth to that crunchy, greasy chips and yeah, life suddenly feels better. You have consumed all of your chips. Now you began to feel terrible again. You wish you can travel and see other parts of the world but you do not have money. To discard your self pity, you went to the fridge and found a slice of cake then began to eat it like there's no tomorrow. After consuming all of the cake, you began to feel terrible again and..
Ah you get the idea. Its a vicious cycle I must say. Boredom eating is a serious habbit we all should avoid. It is one of the factors why there are so many obese cases in the world. Yes eating can make you feel better, but that feeling is only temporary. Your live will not be more productive just because you are eating more. In the long run, you would only feel sorry for yourself for gaining so much pounds.
Instead of eating, you might want to consider others things to do away with boredom. You could try running, riding a bike, strolling to the mall, invite your friends in a baseball game or play baseball with them, etc. There are so many fun and at the same time enjoyable things you could try.
Stop boredom eating and have a more active lifestyle.

One thing i don't want is to get bored. So i busy myself even at home. I would do household chores and when i have my free time already, i would read , watch TV or surf the net. i want my time to be always productive.
But when i get sleepy, i sleep. When i wake up i feel a lot better and would again think of ways not to feel bored at all.
But as to eating, i only eat when i get hungry.

I'm a lazy type or person. So when I get bored. I only spend my time either by watching t.v. or sleeping. I don't do anything that will make me sweat. lols. Because once I perspire. I need to take a bath to call myself down. So that why I don't really moves.

Oh, my friend, that's bad. Our body needs movement , so that the food we eat will not store their fats in our bodies. Because if that is the case, we will go fatter just doing those sedentary ways.

Actually its the other way around. Eating means or ways or symptoms of having a stress related problems. So its the effect of depression that results to eating. And the more we eat the more we feel depress that why its a cycle.

Hey I've been through this. There was a time when I'd eat because I'd nothing to do. And indeed, I'd put on weight. But I never looked at it as something wrong. And thank God, I didn't know it. But i remember over-feeding myself because of boredom.
Later, I got a job and i got busy. I started working out too. Here is a piece of advice: if you're feeling bored at home and have nothing to do, then better get busy with something. Exercise, reading, watching TV etc.. There are many things than over eating...

i couldn't agree more with you. there are many other things to do aside from eating. however, during my boredom eating days, i find myself too lazy to do anything. i would sit on the couch all day and eat every kind of chips. i am thankful that those days are over.

I've gone through this myself and it's a vicious cycle that needs to be broken.
I'm finding now, a week of no work, I'm doing this and I'm not amused.
I sit up every night waiting for a call about work that doesn't come, and then I eat. But I don't eat cake, I eat toast.
If I can get back to work, this will stop.

You will be surprise. My wait is 165 right now. Before my weight is 155 and I do some diet and exercise and I lower my weight to 125 pounds. But then I stop and just thinking I can maintain this. Problem is that instead of maintaining it I grew heavy and even reach 165 pounds right now.

I think I am also prone to this bad habit of boredom eating, actually I have done it many times already especially when I am alone in the house (which happens all the time when hubby is out for work and I have no kids to attend to...)
Whatever I see in the fridge or in the kitchen that I can eat readily, I will consume it coz I feel like I don't have anything to do after I finish doing my tasks in the house...
So now, to avoid it and to stop my self from being tempted in this not so good eating habit, I also avoid keeping readily available foods in the fridge...hehe I avoid keeping cakes, chocolates, chips... instead I just keep some fruits and some breads so that I have something to eat whenever I get hungry and I try to make my self a little bit busy...

Buy a dog or a pet or try to plants for a chance its really helpful. Me I have a dog. Actually here in our house we have four dogs. And I also have lots of plants especially bonsai. In this way I keep myself busy and if that is not all enough I smoke. I smoke a lot. But this one I want to kick my habit.

It had happened to me, when nobody is there in my house. Generally i love cooking. I used to try different kind of dishes. When every one is there, i cant do it because it is difficult for them to taste my dish. Also i used to television for long time when no one is there, so that i can change channel as i wish

I hate cooking so I guess no matter what will happen I rather kill myself with boredom than to cook. I hate something that is hot. I love to eat cold food. So cooking really not for me.

I am sure a lot of people fall into this boat. Especially while watching a TV show and see someone else eating and it makes you hungry. So you go to the fridge and find something to snack on, and then you always do this. This is not really the Best way to go unless you are making sure that these are foods that are Healthy for you, and if you are depressed this is not good to go for food unless you are eating Healthy as well. But many times I have boredom ate and it would be nice if it could be better choices in food for sure.

Or better yet have a boy friend. In this way you will never be bored. And he may not going to give you ticket whole over the world but you can go to cinema and watch some movies and do some malling and other stuff. In this way you will not going to get bored.

Oh yes, boredom can really kill. Who knew that doing nothing could actually do something to do, in a bad way of course. I remember a famous inventor saying that boredom caused him to invent the steam train or something. But I hate boredom too, when I'm bored I simply just stare at the TV or play video games. But now I have Mylot to entertain me, I'm pretty busy trying to earn money online on several different sites so it kills my boredom time. Right now, I'm back at school piled with exams and assignments so I can't go on Mylot as much as I wanted to. Anyway, it's better to do something useful and practical during your boredom. I tend to exercise when I have spare time. It's how you use your boredom time, so use it for good, not bad stuff like pigging yourself out on unnecessary food.

Sometimes i do that too, eating when there is nothing to do. But that kind of activity really doesn't good for our health.
Now,when i was get bored, i usually playing video game and surfing the internet. That two activities are really great help for forgetting my bore and of course boredom eating.
