#1-You have the money to pay for it without having to make payments and pay interest, if possible.
#2-If you already have a computer, they usually start to gradually get slower and slower until they just bite the dust. You're lucky if they last 6 or more years.
#3-I always purchase online at Dell. It is a good quality computer. You don't have any pushy salesman trying to smooth talk you. They provide good customer service. Have an idea of what you want before you order. You can take your time perusing the Dell website, checking prices, special deals, etc. They usually have some type of special offer, free shipping or a rebate. Check back often if you're not in a big hurry.
#4-Keep in mind the first price you see will be like a base price for a car with additions costing extra, although sometimes some programs will be be thrown in for free.
#5-What do you use your computer for? Do you only do email and surf the internet? Do you want speakers to listen to music to, animated greeting cards, etc. How about a printer, black & white or color, regular or laser? How about Word or Word Perfect, Excel, etc. It is nice to have Word or Word Perfect in order to copy and paste stories, articles, etc. and spell check and even check grammar and spelling.
#6-I advise adding extra space and anything else helpful you can afford. You can process an order of what you may like and then find out the cost and back up and remove or add on before making your actual purchase.
