Come on now people. the left is constantly whipping out the old race card and saying the right are bigots. Explain this action for me then.

Seriously, more partisan bickering? Can we all just agree that racism is undesirable, point blank?

Probably not. Not when the overwhelming majority of American media make it a mission to single in on one idiot with a racist sign to paint one half of the country with the same brush, while simultaneously ignoring anything from "their" side that doesn't fit the narrative.
It's bicker time.

Don't you realize you're just giving in to what the media feeds you when you do this? Yes, there are absolute morons on all sides of the political spectrum. What's new?

The problem is that people will go out of their way to call anything said about Obama racist. Joe Sixpack, "That one", socialist, marxist, and various other things were marked as racist by the left yet blatantly racist terms used by left wingers like Uncle Tom and House black are conveniently ignored.

It's more of that ends-justify-the-means attitude and action from on high via media and politicians that pushes the belief on the average Joe Blow out there that it's okay to hate as long as you're hating the enemy.
And as we all know, anything the slightest right of left is the enemy. Even the President of the United States has made it clear that opposition isn't simply comprised of people with opposing viewpoints. No. Those people are the enemy.
It's a license to hate and a whole lot of other nonsense when no one is there to hold you accountable for it. I'm sure this particular incident wouldn't be encouraged; it just wouldn't be discouraged.

I understand. But not only do they not discourage it, look at code pink and the crap they get away with. The "womens movement", OWS, they pick and choose but are not inclusive. They can say anything, do anything and it is ok. You try to hold their feet to the fire and you are the bad guy!
No matter what you think of her, Ann Coulter sheds light on this type of hypocrisy. Why do you think her books are best sellers.

Racism is one sided. If you are black against white only the white can be racist, if you are male against female only the male is sexist, if it is gay against straight only the straight can be homophobic. You lower standards for Blacks to get into collage and that is fine but to ask to be considered on your grades is racist.
People were called racist if you supported Senator McCain for president but were fine if you supported then Senator Obama because he was Black. David Steele ran for Senator in Maryland and was called an OREO and had cookies thrown at him and that was fine. Senator Allen make a comment about Macaka and was painted a race hating bigot. I think the American people are getting fed up with this and no longer take the charge seriously. I was told by a Civil Rights Lawyer, who worked for the state, that when the charge was made of discrimination it was up to the person to prove that the charge was not true and not up to the accuser to prove the charge.

guilty until proven innocent has become our rule of law in a lot of instances. I saw another discussion on here recently regarding your right to not incriminate yourself. I think our rights have been so badly trampled that the younger generation do not know what they even look like. Thats a shame

I think there is enough actual racism in this country without inventing any. The fact that politicians are willing to trump up new forms of it though tells me how far we have come as a society.
I'm betting real reports of race based discrimination would be rare if the liars and propagandists didn't keep it alive.

Hey, Laglen. Long time since I've posted, but I saw your discussion and couldn't resist. In response, I can't explain using the race card anytime. For most Americans, I don't believe it holds water. But I think it's going to get nastier and nastier over the next several months.
Keep in touch.
