I have just watched it thoroughly now, since before I scanned through it and thought it was boring.. After I watched it, I realized, it wasn't that bad but it wasn't scary at all. Since people these days really need something to see to be scared. The acting was good though. It gave me a few chills, but that's all. I'm going to watch the second one later..

If you understand that that stuff is real and people really go through those events and that it was based on a true story, I think it is a lot more scary.

Yeah, if you were in that particular situation the n it would be rally scary. I am quite confused about this though- is this just purely fiction or what true story is it based from anyway?

So the story isn't real.. or was there really a situation like that? I searched the internet for a story like that, but found nothing.

The first movie was based on a true event, but legally posting files like that open to the public is illegal, and the makers of paranormal activity had to get government and relative permission to use the police files for the movie.

Well I have a copy of the movie, but I never really get to finish it. I didn't finish it because there is no scare factor. It was boring for me unlike Japanese or Thai Horror movies. I don't like how the video seems so low quality too. But maybe if I watch it to the finish I can appreciate it a bit.

I thin the quality was lie that because of the low budget of the film...and also to make it more believable that it was taken with a home camera. I tried my best to finish it though, and ended up scanning at some parts with no dialogue.

Yeah, that is what movie makers do to make it look realistic.. i almost got me too. Before I was really confused if it was real and got even a bit scared thinking it was..

Yeah it must have been the low budget. At first I thought the quality was like that because it was a real life story. Haha. How naive of me. Tsk,tsk..

Honestly it's not scary at all and it's kind of boring. I am not fond of watching horror movies, but this movie is not a good one.

Yes, I found it boring at times too. At first it was funny and we see how the couple interacts, it was quite cute... I would have loved to see even a dark shadow of the demon..

Basically the director doesn't want it to look like a movie, the director wants it to look like home videos cos he wants to make people think its real, I think its patterned after the Blair witch Project, I did like the movie but I do admit it has moments where you want to push the fast forward button. The character development is good though since we only have 2 characters to know.

Yeah, I get that too- I even thought it was real at first, good thing I did research.. It is a bit like Rec too- being taken from a camera.. I did still scan a few parts when they were just talking.. I only paid much attention at night and waited for something really scary to happen... but that didn't happen.

The movie was good but not that scary. But what the movie makes interesting is that how they caught the devil and still decide to remain at the house and the others scenes are little bit scary.

I think they remained at the house because it really won't make any difference since the demon would still follow them. I don't get the end that much though, why did she become like that? Was she possessed?

I think why Paranormal Activity 1 became somewhat of a hit is because of the shooting style. It's taken in a documentary-type of film and in some way, it's low budget :) The story itself is not "scary". The scary part is actually surprising for me like the sudden appearance of the shadow or the unexpected sounds, etc. Paranormal 1 has 3 endings right? Is Paranormal Activity 2 and 3 same?

yeah, I heard abut the 3 endings of the first movie, didn't really like the theatrical ending they used.. I don't think the second one has alternate ending though. The story is scary, if it happened to you- but just watching it happen to some- not scary.

wow i feel such a scaredy cat after reading your comments about the movie. did you know that i have not slept well for two months because of this movie. i was totally scared and i kept thinking since its a true story, it might also happen to me. thats why i did not bother watching the second installment. but i did watch the third, cause my girlfriend insisted. so i just did to get over with it. it was not as scary as the first. but i was lost in the plot of the movie. i did not see the connection of the first to the third. maybe i should watxh the second installment to have a better understanding of the movie.

That is correct. If you don't want them to mess with you then you should never play with them in the first place, because this spirits are thirsty for attention and so once you tried entertaining them, then they won't stop till you drop.

The third is a prequel to the first.. It show the reason why Katie was followed by the demon and stuff. I was always thinking that it is not real which is why I wasn't scared. i don't mess with the spirits too by calling them out or playing games to connect with them- which is why I am sure I won't feel or see anything paranormal.
