When your reputation goes down

What would you feel if your star was slashed a point(s)? For sure someone doesn't agree with your post or doesn't like they way you participate. At first I really felt disappointed when I lose a star. But later I was able to gain a star and understand that it's not about the reputation it's really about the way we share our opinions and ideas here. No matter what your reputation level is, you are still a vital member of mylot and you are the reason why mylot keeps on running for more than 5 years.

So true, it's all about sharing our opinions and getting ideas and advises from people in every part of the world. It's also true that some people will contradict us of own opinion and worst disagree or give us a negative rating. Well, sometimes they are not so considerate about their fellow myLotter. But I do hope everyone respect each opinion and air our own comments without giving us a bad rating, but since myLot has enabled this option, well we all are free to tick it whenever we feel to.
I have never done it so far, have you done it to others when you don't like what they posted or commented?

For me, I didn't give negative rate to anyone even if the comment is so bad, but I do give positive rate to other people if I like the post.

Hi there... Don't get panicky about the reputation going down. It is supposed to go up and down... Somebody did not agree with you, that is why they voted negative. Look my friend, there are a quarter million of people here, and we can't expect them all to agree with us, can we? So, it'll keep happening, do not worry. Just stick to your post and keep the quality up... Everything'll be fine soon. Take care...

Not agreeing isn't a reason to neg someone. It's actually a violation to do this to people, and if Admin see a pattern of a person negging frequently they could get booted from mylot.
I very rarely neg anyone at all... I will usually rate positive or not give a rating at all if I find them insulting or something. Not agreeing with me they will still get a positive. They have to do something very bad for me to neg them.

Hello Jacruz,
Very true!! Whenever i had paid attention towards my star i never could write freely but once i put a side the reputation i know i am able to put my real thoughts in my responses.
Though on discussions every one say that they don't rate anyone negative then how does someone's reputation falls? I have seen lot of users here who complains or whom reputation falls with in a day or two.
I know higher our reputation higher will the earnings but nothing we can do with our reputation as it depends on other users how do they rate us.
I never pay much attention to my reputation as i know i cannot do anything with it what is in my hand is to write quality responses i try to do that.

Yes, no used to be sad.I will try to help others to get back their star but I think it is not fair to asked people to rate you in every post you made like what some of the members did. For me what I always do is, I will rate the starter discussions along with comments that I am in. For example like your comment here. I will not use my time to rate every comments we have here. So I hope they do understand that we will try as much as we could but don't forced us to do. Since we can do nothing to know who's rate who so we should not be sad but just continue giving the bet response we could have..(^^)

To be honest I don't care about reputation and also not if it's going up or down.
I never had a look at it. It's the same for me in the real world.
Who cares about what others say or think about you?
The only thing that counts is what you think about yourself.
The rest is just a game, it's not real, it doesn't count and there is no reason to be upset about it either.

hi jacruz as long as I stay at red or heavens above move up to blue I am fine if I go up or do wn a point. but when I d ropped from blue to only fifty percent I did contact te admins and they caught
the two culprit trolls and kicked them out. they only put me b akc to a high eight b ut I did a lot of q uality st uff and rose to a nine and now while still a nine am one point from a blue ten. you see our reputations do count in the mylots earnings algorithm
so the higher the rep the better we will earn.but I also see your point too as we are all vital here no matter just where our star is

Woaw Hatley, it's great to know that the admins are really working to trace people who's giving bad ratings to others unreasonably.
Thanks for sharing this, at least now I know that if someone bullies and rates me negative there is a way for me to find out if this is reasonable or not

Hi Jacruz, Exactly! What is needed here is for members to participate and do whatever they can without violating rules and unnecessarily getting into controversies. As for the reputation and the fluctuating star , one need not really bother too much about it, since it is beyond us to do anything about it.I wouldn't want to post anything against my own feelings just to please others...all the best and happy mylotting

Good day Jacruz25,
With reference to your main topic discussion, I also feel a little bit upset when my star point was reduced. I was thinking it really. But, during those times, an idea come across my mind, that, what has been lost will be gain again as long as i will continue to do a good quality topic. And not only that, if i will going to continue to do one, a good point will follow.
Happy Mylotting.

I am just so lucky that I do not understand the meaning of the stars. I just goo on posting and participating in the forum. As long as I do not offend people, or use profane words, I believe people will understand, as this is an open forum for everyone in the world. The difference in culture would definitely trigger problems. So, I do not mind about that. I just go on posting.

You're right. We must not work for the stars but rather we work because we like the work we do. We like sharing our views. It doesn't matter when there are some people who disagrees. We can't please everyone, but we can please ourselves instead.

As reaching reputations are like goal setting as mylot is a cooperative program. U cant start a discussions of ur interest but also for public interest we cant rate it ourselves but we should be get rated by others. So others opinion are also more important in mylot programs.

It is against the guidelines to rate negatively just because we disagree with a comment, but it is done all the time... and that messes with our earnings, because the higher the reputation in our star the more we can make.. it may not make much of a difference, but it is used somehow to calculate how we are paid our earnings.. so in that sense, I feel the star is important.
You are right though.. no matter what our star is, we are all vital members.. I feel we are all equal here and like a family.

Yes it does affect our earnings.. "The DRS is factored into our proprietary earnings algorithm, so this will help us properly reward valuable contributions to the myLot community."

Is it against the guidelines to rate negatively because we disagree to a certain comment? I don't think our reputation affects our earnings. It is discussed months ago and even mylot admin posted a comment to clarify that our reputation doesn't affect our earnings.

But to say we have to concentrate more on our stars because i heard some old members told our star value increase our earning value. As per example if someone had 9star and someone had 3star with same participations i guess that 9star person would earn more for his participation because star always value much . Then whats the reason why mylot uses star rating behind member's name. I always want to up my reputation star. Mylot is not about only participation but its also about good participation. Good participation always get u highest star in mylot.

Naseem I dont think this if more star means more earning my star is more but earning is not more its depend upon our participation response or comments not on star no special cent received for more star.

I usually rate ever discussion I respond to but I have noticed a few times that my rating hasn't changed. I don't start many discussions and maybe that is why, but the ones that I have started I rate all the replies also. I thought that was what you were supposed to do, but maybe not. I am not really concerned about my rating. Most of the time I don't even know what it is and don't think it is very important.

I feel disappointed if that happen to me. There is nothing I can do about it. Well, all I have to do is to pretend so as to maintain a good star here on myLot. People have different point of views and different opinions. Some people would not agree with us and I knew, some people would not agree with me. It is also hard to be yourself if some people don't like you at all in terms of views, personality and your character, and because this is the paid social site and all of us are here to earn extra money, well, sometimes to pretend is a good choice if we have to respond a discussion so as some would not rate you negative. This is what I know that I can do to maintain a good star.

The reputation is one of the thing that I don't bother much in mylot. But since other members are concern about it too much- I can see that from the PM/discussions written by them, I start to rate every respond they make so their points will not get decreased. For me, I just want to have fun here...If my reputation get decreased I know I can do nothing so I don't see any point to feel sad about it. Just continue mylotting~(^^)

It happened to me twice and I do believe that it was because I did not participate well too often. The feeling was to drive me to do what must be done by a member like me and so as much as possible I tried to comment back as many as I can for every discussions started. You will feel the guilt especially you are being paid honestly for what you are doing.

Me too, I got disappointed when I lost my initial star, but it did not take long to to regain it back. People's opinions matter in everything we do, and we should not expect only positive responses on what we say, in fact if positive responses are what we look for, then that will not be a discussion but a driven vote or spam.

i agree that if reputations go down, its likely to feel sad,and loosing a star,is a real pain.but even if our reputation is going down,we shouldn't leave our quality and keep on posting quality one after the other.after all,its quality that matters here and nothing else.if we give quality, its more likely that we will fetch positive ratings and our reputation may raise high again.
