Children at movies

I just went and saw Puss in Boots, a kids movie, at the movie theater tonight. I went to the late show at 9:30pm. I purposely went late to avoid as many kids as possible since kids like to talk during movies. And that is exactly what happened - kids jumping up and screaming, kicking the chair, and saying they were bored and wanted to go. I think it was a little inappropriate for kids to go to such a late movie. It didn't get out until almost 11:30 pm, shouldn't kids be asleep by then? If they do have to be up that late at a movie, I think parents should teach them that it is expected of them to stay seated and not shout during the movie. I realize that kids are going to talk and want to wiggle around, it is unavoidable. I just wish that the parents could have whispered to them to talk softer and to sit back down. Not carry on a loud conversation with them about the plot of the movie, explaining all the scenes to their kids. A mother even said to her kid "what a funny little monkey you are being" after she climbed all over her seat and kicked my chair repeatedly.
So what is your opinion? Does it matter what time a kids movie plays at, it should just be expected that kids will shout during the movie? Is it my problem because I wanted to see a movie aimed at children?

I don't think it's your problem. I do not understand parents not making their children behave in public. I'm totally against child abuse, but not against taking a hand to their padded backsides if they need it.
Saturday, we stopped at a restaurant to eat. There were two cute little boys eating with their parents across the restaurant from us. Well, let me say that the parents were eating and the boys were crawling around on the floor under the table. Then they started crawling up on the seat of the people sitting at the table next to them.
The lady politely ask them to get down and go sit with their parents. The boys looked at them as if they were speaking a foreign language. When the man tried to get the dad's attention, he just ignored him! Finally the woman got a little angry and told the oldest one to please take his little brother and get off their table.
At this point the mother stood up and grabbed the kids by the arm and called the lady an ugly name and said "You don't have to be rude, they're just having fun."
I wanted to slap her! People today have no consideration for others. I would have demanded my money back from the theater manager if the kid had kicked my chair throughout the whole movie. That's just rude and inconsiderate.
