The family that eats together stays happy together

One recent study shows that kids who eat with family members is more likely not to smoke, drink alcohol, take drugs, pick up fights and do better in school. I believe this is true as kids share time with their parents and family members and when parents share a set time for kids, kids are likely to share with them their life. How about you, do you have eating together time with your family despite the hectic schedules of your work?

During eating in front of a dining table, it gives a perfect time for sharing what is in each of the member for the everyday they encounter, be it fun, problem, nonsense, and whatever topic that may arise for a discussion. It is a happy moment as you hear the sounds of the spoons and forks, glasses and plates together with laughter. The cooperation during and after each meal as they accomplish the assignment of the cleaner and dishwasher for the day. A beautiful scene of a happy family while eating. The most important part of it is the prayer of thanking God before and after the meal for the food they have received, reminding the children that we need to be always thankful for all of the blessings given by God.

Better if you can give more time with them so that you will know what they have been to through out the day.

Yes, I agree. This is a great time to share your day when you are a family. I eat with my family once or twice a week, but mostly I eat in my office to give them time together. I just fix my plate and come in here to work on mylot while I eat.

hi Edna! yes, i agree! cause mealtime could be the best time to talk things about everyone. it's the longest time i believe that a family could spend together. in our family, it's dinner time when we are complete since we are busy during the day. we get to talk about things during dinner time. we get to have healthy arguments during the meal time.

I agree, eating together with your family is having a commitments with your family and also the way of understanding their needs, their happiness and they what they do. sharing their thoughts and views. When we were young we always eats together as a whole, now that we are grown due to some of us do works and some are late to come home we often do that, but during weekends especially Sunday we tend to do that as a family day and some family bonding as well.

It is nice to note that you're still doing it despite problems in schedules and time. Yes, Sunday is a great opportunity for eating out together either at home or in a family favorite restaurant.

I agree with you. When people eat together it means there is proper understanding and hence they are eating together. We eat together whenever we are in the house.

Yes, you are right, when parents dine with their kids even in non sitting arrangement, kids tend to open up and talk about themselves.

Good evening dear mylloter friend EdnaReyes , hmmm this is such a verry interesting subject and to be totally honest , it has never crossed my mind ,and have never actually paid atention to it , but when i was around childhood age , i used to eat every breakfeast , lunch and dinner in familly , from the age of six me and my older sister ( just a one year and three months difference ) had a stepfather untill i've reached eighteen years old , what i want to say that everytime we eated we eated togheter , even thou' not every meal of the day , but for the dinner , every dinner we used to eat all togheter , me my sister , my step sister , my grandmother, mother and my stepfater , all joined togheter at 19:00h , but when me and my sister camed back from school ( at 13h00 ) we used to eat , just me my sister and my grandmother , and in the morning , just me my sister , my stepsister and our grandmother that was helping us every morning to make the breakfeast , and i used tp eat togheter untill i've reached fifteen years old , after i started to hang out more and started skipping two evenings eating togheter , and i used to ate much later , or just before going out , usually alone in the kitchen , and i cann say that as a youngster 'ive had my faire share of mistakes from wich i've later learned and harnnes some experience for life , i believe in what studies says , but i cannot give judgement over other people or families. I wish you a verry great evening dear friend. Hosman,

I just hope during those times you ate together with family members you were able to have happy times with them. Eating together does not restrict with all the family members but one or two sharing a meal will be enough to feel that special family bond.

Totally, so true.. since this is one of the few times when the family can be together- all of them.. they can share how their day went and all.. I even read that one family should eat at least one meal together.

I believe in this. The reason is that meals become an activity participated by the family members together. This become bonding for them. Communication becomes open, and the relationship of the family becomes stronger. This is the reason why meals are supposed to be taken together by the family memebers.

I totally agree with you Ednareyes....when the family members eat together, They will have freedom to share their all matters....And the parents can advise their children peacefully.. The parents and elders can share their views about some thing..Dis advantages...Through this, The family members can achieve an open heart....Except all these, The children will be very happy to eat with all...The parents can show their love towards children by serving them food items.... I love this system....We follow this system for 14 years.....It helps me to share my feelings with my parents.... Thank you.....

Yes, eating together does not mean sitting on the table but as long as family are eating together ,it's good. It can be eating together while watching movie or playing board games. The bottom line here is the family is sharing a time for each other.

i agree with this. there are a lot of articles on the internet that would support your claim. it is essential for family members to have time to bond with each other. through this, you will have a chance to nurture your relationship with your family. one way of bonding is eating together as a family. no matter how busy each of you are. you should alot a time to sit together in the dining table and talk about your day, your problems, ideas, etc. this could lead to a healthier relationship of your family.

Hi Edna! If I am at mom house, usually we eat whenever we like. we don't have exact time for everyone to get together and eat together. But it does not mean that we don't know each other. We talked about ourselves at some other time like have a chat before we get to sleep or when doing other activities. Me rarely eat with others but I used to eat with my mom and for sure we will talk about each other till we finish our food. But if I get to my sister's house then I need to follow the rules to eat at this and that time with her children. And yes, that's the time for the children to share everything or story they want so we know what they are up to..(^^)

I think eating together as a family is very important. When my daughter was growing up I always made sure we ate together. Now we don't always eat together now.. I often eat in my office when I'm working.. I have my coffee pot here and if I had room I'd have a microwave. My office is in my bedroom. I live with my daughter and her hubby... I try to give them their space.. I eat with them when I am invited to.

what i think is that we should at least take one single meal in a day together with our family.we had this as a rule in our family when i was a kid and i am thankful that because of it,our whole family used to sit together on the dining table and share about the various things that happened in that particular day.i am trying to cultivate the same habit in my family too,as sitting together makes us grow closer to each other.
