Why is Shawshank Redemption so highly regarded?

I think it was really good, it was one of those well written movies. Like everyone says "oh my goodness avatar was amazing" but was it well written? To me it was just a rendition of Pocahontas. Or "oh my gosh, that movie was amazing" but in reality that movie was just another comedy, that always have people loving it. So what differs Shawshank redemption is the way it was written, it didn't have a "cheesy" part for a deeply moral based film.

This film is best example of capacity of a human being to endure the pain and have faith on themselves and its shown with such honesty,that makes it most inspiring movie.I think for this reason Shawshank Redemption and 12 Angry Men will feature amongst top ten in almost every lists of all time great movies.

"I've seen it several times." That is why and lots of ther reasons!

I think that any movie that depicts the triumph of the human spirit would always be highly regarded. Although the movie wasn't really that special, the message was! And almost everybody would want to be associated with that kind of message, with that kind of triumph. I think that's why people have such a high regard for it!

I've noticed that two. The story is interesting, the actors are well known. I think the idea behind it made it so special. The way he helps all of those people with their taxes from prison, the way he steels that warden's shoes and escapes. It's rather funny and intriguing
