Is Orlando Bloom a good actor?

I keep watching his movies, I think he has two types of acting. I think he was amazing and gorgeous on Lotr and Kingdom of Heaven, but there are movies that I don't know what he is trying to show, what feelings he is having, I don't know if he is a good actor or a bad actor really. Never a celebrity confused me more, hahaha, :D What do you think? I read soooooooooo many reviews on how he is such a terrible actor but I kind of like him because he is a Dog rescuer and there are so many celebrities that don't do nothing for the world, or even like Jennifer Lopez or Beyoncé that actually MAKES FUR that when they do something, anything good it's very intersting to watch. Like fame, money and all easy life didn't corrupt them, it gives me hope in humanity.

I don't really think he did a lot of acting in Lord of the Rings. He just stood around, looked Elvish and said the things that were to obvious to give it to other characters :-) Not his fault really, the way the role was written he couldn't have done much more. He was OK in the Pirates movies I think, but Johnny Depp was better :-) But then he's one of my favourites.

In Pirates I can't even comment cause what Johnny did there was like epic! He created a carachter in such a way that if Hollywood come again to mess good movies and do a Pirates again it will go down because Johnny won't be there, and I'm not even his fan but wow, was he funny? It seems they asked him to do a funny pirate, so he pretended to be drunk and startet to walk gay, exactly what I read (I love gays). If that's what he done it was so simple that I thought Johnny Depp is genious. Act elvish?? I laughed so hard. Yeah, yeah, that's what Legolas did there, and wow... it made me love the elvish way then :D I think book-Legolas was so more brilliant. They tried to make Aragorn perfect in the movies when the truth is he got desperate and Legolas took the lead. Legolas and Gimli were way more brilliant in the book. But as PJ did, he changed everything to make Aragorn and Frodo look good, very Hollywood-ish. I didn't like that. Tolkien took so much time to create so complete carachters, the movies just made about two of them...

It must have been fun to act with Johnny Depp in Pirates, but I agree with you, comparing get hard :-) It's difficult to match Jack Sparrow :-) Although I think Barbossa got better, in the first film he wasn't that good IMO but in the last one he was great. I think they should have given the actors playing Elves a bit more room to act. To me, they all seemed pretty stiff and arrogant. Arrogant would probably fit with the books (at least for Celeborn), but too stiff IMO. I wonder how they will tie that in with the drunken, singing Elves in the Hobbit. Legolas is supposed to be one of them, which is another reason I think he could have been a bit more down to earth and active.

LOL! Was Celeborn arrogant? You know I read The Fellowship through this time and I'm in The Two Towers, the first time I read it was about Legolas so I didn't get how Tolkien was amazing, but now I'm reading for the genious of this biggest story teller of all times and I think it's amazing. Maybe I'll get to see more of Celeborn. I felt him and Galadriel were so much more humble when they were introduced in the books (the version that counts right?). They all sat together, it was not like in the movies that they think they are Gods or something. Drunken elves in the Hobbit? You read it all them, it's gonna be fun. That got to be hot. I am a hudge elf lover. Now Haldir...that I'm sure he was arrogant in the movies, again I didn't get that in the book, but in the movie..."The dwarf breaths so loud we could have shot him in the dark". That was hilarious. The only change I liked PJ did in the movies, but then he disappointed me again by killing the elf! LOL I love chatting to those who knows so much about Tolkien. I think he made a hudge difference. I can't find this information yet but is there any chance you know if HE was the creator of Elves, Dwarves? I know he is the creator of Hobbits and Tree-Ents or those walking Trees. That he was very fond of nature and wished industry didn't take over. Tolkien already knew we were going to kill the trees and suffocate. He valued the calm and slow life, more like a Hobbit way of living, I think he is right, why not have hand-made stuff too? It has so much more meaning and spirit. I try to buy hand-made or the less unpopular store all the time, specially if the owner feeds a stray cat or do something good :D Even my dogs clothing I'm buying in adopting fairs now, I never knew the organisations raised money right there in the spot too selling so many cheap stuff, my 'daughters' also will have hand-made from now on :D I talked too much. Hope you read this. Have a great day! And thanks for the answer, I laughed!

hello, Well my friend in my opinion Orlando Bloom is a great actor. He has done some great acting in the past few years. In case of LOTR, he played his part brilliantly. He was just awesome in the role of legolas. I loved him in the LOTR series. Also he played will turner in Pirates of the caribbean. Those movies were epic and he also played his part brilliantly, almost shoulder to shoulder with Johny Depp. So i think he is a great actor. I ahve also heard many critics compain about his acting sklls. But I totally disagree with them.

I just absolutely love Legolas, but more because of his soul than actually Orlando's beauty but no one in the world could play that elf like he did, but I liked him in The Fellowship, there was not success there yet, I watched so many times that I feel the change in The Two Towers for example, it's a shame, no one can stay the same like Michael J.Fox after fame, it just mess people's egos, now I watched a piece of Troy and oh my God, Elizabeth Town and I had no idea what he was trying to act in there, what he was trying to pass to us, maybe it's just me . That part in Troy he's a coward and has to face a battle against an enemy was really painful, that's when I thought he is a bad actor, but amazingly there's this part in Elizabeth.. that he cried...I think he must be in the mood and still can't judge him but in Troy...that was a terrible experience to watch.

I think he can act, but he either chooses, or is given roles that don't stretch his boundaries as an actor. Everybody in my class loved him until they saw him in Troy, where he was acting a wimp(Paris). It's because of the character he was playing, and characters he's been playing recently that his like-ability has gone downhill.

I never watched it entirely cause when he is with the actress he begin that part that I don't know what he is feeling or what he is trying to show (when I get the feeling he is a bad actor) and I only watched for him, I think he was going to put a necklace on her or something. But Lotr and Kingdom, wow, he was so good. I don't get him! lol!! Thanks dear, happy MyLotting.

If he is a terrible actor but he can act very well, why not? As long as he can demonstrate creativity and artistry in acting, bad news will be forgotten, people will not focus. Arrogant or whatever, it is the habbit of an artist. We have to understand about it. No matter how good the acting and the movie.

People seems to find him very intersting and being on the media all the time surely do him good. His family life is also fabulous, his baby so cute. It's like watching a real fairy tale. Almost a perfect life.

I am a fan of Orlando Bloom. But, I don't think he is a good actor. He is handsome and Legolas make me fall in love with him. But, his other movies are not good. His acting in Troy, Kingdom of Heaven, or even Pirates of the Caribbean is terrible. I think we can see his best acting in Elizabeth Town.

I really liked Legolas too! Yes I was wondering, and it's funny I watched Elizabeth Town and Kingdom, I found he was great in Lotr and Kingdom, now Elizabeth made me stop watching him. But you are not the first one saying he was good in Elizabeth... Girls really think he is handsome! I think he's like the most famous now, he has charisma, rescue dogs, was vegetarian, kind of a good guy, I think we digg into that
