My friend is currently reviewing for the IELTS. He'll be taking the exam soon and he's pretty nervous about it, of course. I am confident that he'll pass it, so I'll back him up with support and prayers.
Have you guys taken the IELTS? How was it? I saw some practice tests online, they seemed easy but I don't really know anything more.
Tips, anyone? For a person who'll take it the first time. He mentioned that he plans to retake if the scores aren't good enough. I sure hope he makes it.

Hi there pryrethyme,
I have taken the IELTS exam more than a year ago and I won't deny the fact that I was nervous the first time I decided to take the exam together with my review center newfound friends. It was truthfully a short time for me to prepare since I have only reviewed for 3weeks. The time I went for review, I've found out things aren't what I expected them to be like the Reading exam, wherein I thought one should only just read the passage and the examiner would only judge how one reads with the pronunciation, etc. I've also realized I wasn't a good writer when I first had my B rating during the review even though I started writing and join Writer's Bureau and school's paper organization when I was young. Luckily, I passed the exam in "flying colors." :))
Tell your friend to just be confident upon taking the exam and just like any other exam, rest and have fun the day before. Go to movies, eat but do not splurge too much. Above everything, my real secret to passing the exam was going to church everyday before attending review classes. It really helps a lot to ask guidance from Him. :)

Hello! i have taken the exam before. It really depends on how good you are in English. The exam is divided into four parts namely listening, reading, writing, and speaking. The highest score he could get is 9. That's a perfect score.
The listening part really needs his full attention because he will be hearing a conversation, or instruction and answer the questions simultaneously. This will be played only once so he should avoid any distractions. The reading part is more on how he can comprehend the passage given and answer the questions that follow. Some people can write well, so they are more confident in giving their opinions to a topic given to them in 250 words. There is also a part where he will be interpreting a graph and explain the whole meaning of it in an exciting way. The last part is the speaking where most people like. Call center agents really have an edge in this part. He will be interviewed and given a topic to discuss in 2 minutes. He should b able to deliver his ideas in an organize way. No slang words please and speak clearly.
So it really matters when he knows which part he is good at and which is his weakness. it just takes practice. I hope you have now an idea what your friend will be going through. Continue to support him and GOD BLESS!
