Yesterday's loss at the hands of Arsenal is the third big match that Chelsea have lost against bigger clubs. They have previously lost against Liverpool and Manchester United. Does AVB lack the big match ability currently?
What is your view on Andreas Villas Boas against the bigger clubs?
Cheers!

I think this season is like a hell for AVB.
Chelsea falling not only fall with a big team, but also small team like QPR,
maybe AVB should try harder in EPL to survive and make his team in the first classement. He has to improve his skill in making strategy.
i think when playing with Arsenal, Chelsea playing not to bad, even Chelsea have lead the way in the first half.
But i think Arsene Wenger have a better Strategy in second half.

I think the inexperience of AVB is showing off. I think in the big games more than strategies the mentality play a big part. That is something that I cannot see in Chelsea. Though in the match against QPR they fought very hard, they were naive to have two red-card sending off!!
Cheers!

You must be right, as I assume that deliar is also following the EPL games, because I know for sure that ram is watching the games. And yes, in great games the mental strength is as important as the strategy is. Maybe AVB has to work harder with his players and implement them a winning mentality. I guess that is why he tried to bring young players, to win them on his side, because it is harder to have the respect of players who are older than you or have a major experience also.
If I would be Abramovich, I would have lots of patience with AVB, he has a great talent of coaching, and this talent was immediately recognized by Sir Bobby Robson and Jose Mourinho also.

I think one of his key personnel problems is with John Terry. No doubt Terry is a great defender and good leader on the field. But his off field issues are now threatening to boil down onto the field and that could have a deep impact on the team. I think he will need to take a very tough call on Terry pretty soon. Let's see if he has the stomach to do that.
Cheers!

It is interesting what you say here about Andre Villas Boas, I never thought about this, as I don't really follow the games.
I consider that AVB is a talented young coach, who is better than many older and more experienced coaches. He is smart and he can make the players feel attached to him. But he needs time in order to build great teams, so we mustn't judge him too harsh yet. I said at the beginning of the season that he is a coach who implements a unique style to his team and for that he needs time, maybe a bit more than other coaches. But if Abramovich will have patience with him, he will be thankful later, I am sure about that.

Yes, I agree that he can only improve with time. So I am also just mentioning the results that we see currently. I just felt that in the bigger games when they went behind, they just seemed to get a bit lost. They simply went for all out attack and that cost them the matches in the counter attack.
Cheers!

What is good to see is the emergence of a lot of young managers. First there was Guardiola, now there is AVB and also people like Luiz Enrique. I remember Juergen Klinsmann really lit up German National Side when he took over as a manager. So I think now we are seeing a new breed of managers coming into the game with new ideas.
Cheers!

I see. You did a great remark, and maybe Villas Boas needs to learn more in order to be able to prepare a great game better. I am sure that he will do everything to improve, to make his team better and because the time is on his side, at the age of 40 he will be one of the most respected trainers. When Louis van Gaal was sacked from Bayern, I was hoping that the officials of Bayern will try to bring AVB in Munchen, but they have brought Jupp Heynckes. He is also a very good trainer and the team is performing well, but I don't see him to stay for too long, as he is 66 years old. Maybe with AVB Bayern would have performed well also and the coach position would have been assured for a long time.

Andreas Villas Boas was shown better performance from the 2000.
But now his success rate is just 60 percent. He has to show more.

Well, you have good points.. I am thinking the same way, AVB has not there yet to compete with managers from bigger clubs. Maybe his confident level or experience is not as much as them. However, we must consider players factor as well. As we can see, when Drogba unable to play the front liners are also lack of creativity, I still don't understand the reason of Torres never neen adopt accordingly until now. Their defenders is also one of the weaknesses if played against bigger club since the speed is reduced already. So if they behind seems motivation to attack is low. I know they still have amazing players like sturridge, ramirez, lampard but still need to purchase more excellent players on january transfer windows.

Yes, injuries and suspensions have hurt him as well. Just when Torres was beginning to play well, he got sent off and missed the next three games. Of course, the missing Drogba factor was a big boon for Arsenal as Drogba has always been their nemesis with his physical game.
Cheers!

I think its too early to say AVB is naive against big clubs. It's 10 league games yet.
I believe they usually have shaky patch on their way but still i think chelsea are well favorites for the title.
I think the biggest problem for AVB is the backline chelsea defence as they got only one clean sheet in their home games and thats unusual.
I believe they got players capable of keeping the defence tight but still i think JT has gone slower as we saw in last game against arsenal.
YA interesting to watch EPL and more defensive work for AVB's Chelsea and more players in next transfer window.

Yes, he will get the benefit of doubt of his first season in the English league. But having said that I would like to see him get at least a couple of good results against big clubs by the end of the season. If he cannot achieve that then Chelsea's title aspirations are doomed.
Cheers!
