I've seen this movie way way back (around 2008 I think) but I only seen it once because I can't bear crying as much as I had the first time I've seen it. It's a Studio Ghibli film and if you're an avid fan of Studio Ghibli (Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, My Neighbor Totoro) you'd think this is another one feel-good movie for kids. It's for kids, yes but it's not quite feel-good. I'm sure grown ups will enjoy this movie more.
The movie is about two kids who tries to survive during World War 2. The summary is as easy as that but the movie itself is so heart-wrenching and it's not a light comment when I say that you need tissues and hankys with you when you watch it.
I highly recommend this movie for everyone to watch. I'm sure you will appreciate it as much as me.

Grave of the Fireflies is an amazing movie. I've seen it multiple times over the years and I've cried every single time I've watched it. The story is just that touching. And I seriously think that all Studio Ghibli movies are aimed towards an audience of any age, not just kids. Every single one of their movies deals with some type of issue or other.

Saizo, I can't agree with you more. Studio Ghibli films always have this certain thing creating something that adults can eventually grasp and relate to. Have you seen "Graveyard of Fireflies", "whispers of the Heart" and "Only Yesterday" ranks among my recommended Studio Ghibli films for adult.
Jaiho, I hope you're able to rent one

You should! Lol! I suggested this movie to a close friend. She was a bit hesitant at first since she's not an anime fan but half an hour or so while watching the movie, she asked me for tissues :P

Hi kei!
I've watched a lot of movies from Studio Ghibli and I can't remember many of them anymore. Well, except for Ponyo which was the last Studio Ghibli film I have watched. I'm not sure if I have already watched Graveyard of Fireflies but the title sounds so familiar. I think I have also watched Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke. I have a DVD of these films and I just can't remember where I have put it.
Oh, this is not a Studio Ghibli film but have you watched Borrower Arriety?

Borrower Arriety is like Thumbelina. Arriety is like Thumbelina in size and their family lives in a house where they borrow things for their everyday use. She was discovered by the boy living in the house and they became friends. But because of certain circumstances, Arriety and her family had to move away. It's a nice film. Inspiring about friendship.

I was only able to see parts of "Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea" since someone borrowed the DVD and I don't have any idea who borrowed it. Lol! I haven't seen "Borrower Arriety" yet. Is it good? What's it all about?

Hi keihimekawa!
I know this movie but I have not really seen it yet. I remember the sales lady also telling me that Graveyard of Fireflies is really heart wrenching and a must see. She said she cried over this film. She made a good sales talk that I bought it from her immediately. However, my dvd player got broken even before I get to watch the dvd.
I am going to search online so I can watch the full movie. I hope there is one in Youtube or animefreak.
:)
