Hello guys ever since i started shaving i have always used a razor and blade.I have never used an electric shaver upto now but i think the time is coming when i will have to use one.The reason is that i have Muscular Dystrophy since 1970 and as the days go by i am getting more and more weak.I am permanently on a wheelchair and do my shaving sitting on one.I have to take the support of the sides of the wash basin while doing it.Now it is getting very difficult to shave so i am thinking of switching over to an electric shaver. Not having used one i want to know what i can expect by using one and whether i can get an equally clean shave or not.Your comments and advice will be appreciated.thank you.

I just use a normal razor and blade to shave my face. Its because I find the electric razor more heavier and trickier to use. But I guess whatever razor you find more comfortable to use then I would say go ahead and use it. My electric razor flicks my hair around more than using the manual one for me.

I have not used electric shaver as i have heard that it is not good for our skin. So, i use only razor and blade.Sometimes when you are in hurry and if there is no electricity then the electric razor would be useless.

I prefer using the razor and blade compared to an electric shaver because the razor and blade cuts 'em shorter. I have tried using electric shavers before, but most of them don't cut short enough and some even drags the hail follicle out which makes it quite painful. Besides, I like the cool feel to the skin when I use the shaving foam with the razor and blade. I guess in your case, you don't really have much of a choice but to switch to an electric shaver because of your medical condition, but I'm sure they'll do the job just fine. Happy myLotting!

I hope you won't kick me out since i am not a guy But i use a razor too to err..some areas hahaha legs that is. Well, i do not know if electric shaver is applicable to my legs.. but i only use a hand shaver.. works well. Hubby also uses hand shaver and he have not tried electric one except when he is at the salon having a hair cut..
Hope you are doing well my friend

Trimmer, an easy way to trim your shaving. I am using that and some times i can use the blade. Anyways it is better to go for barber shop. They can do safely.

Hi Veejay, I am sorry to hear about your Muscular Dystrophy. I can't imagine how bad that much be and will keep you in my thoughts.
I have used an electric razor for most of my life. I did start off using blades, but never liked getting those little nicks that just woudn't stop bleeding. I found that it took a while for my skin to get used to the electric razor and was shaving sometimes 2 or 3 times a day. Also, early electric razors weren't very good and felt like I was rubbing my face with sandpaper! However, I did get used to it and can now shave just once or maybe twice in a day, but it's no big deal as it can be done anywhere and even without a mirror as you feel your face getting smoother.
I now use a Braun electric razor and it is very good at cutting through even the strongest of stubble. It was a little more expensive in my country than other makes, but I have to say that it gives the best shave of any others that I have tried. _Derek

I just use a normal blade. The electric one is much expensive compared to the normal one so I prefer the normal blade.I think the performance isn't so different to each other.:)

I see your situation, so I have some reminder:
1. Electric shaver might be heavier than normal razor. So in case you really need the electric one, choose the most lighter one. If not, then you can get more difficulties.
2. Electric shaver has two type: one with battery and the other use electrics from wall plug. The one that use battery is normally heavier (due to the battery) but you can use it freely and you can minimize the potential of electric chute. If you use non-battery, it has cable, so you must be careful while using it and when you plug or unplug from wall socket.
Me, myself, prefer normal razor due to simpleness and the blade replacement is cheap. Nevertheless, it can give equally clean shave if you use it right.
