I don't know if this the exact category to start this new discussion. If not, I hope you will let me know.
Okay, did you ever receive emails from this id: onlinefacilitys@gmail.com? He calls himself KEITH but I believe he is either from India or Pakistan.
I signed up at Guru.com some weeks ago and started bidding for projects. A few days later, I received a message from him asking me to confirm my willingness to complete his project by emailing him at the above email address.
I did so.
Some hours later he sent me another email. Please read below:
[Oops! I can't copy-paste so I am typing a paragraph using the exact words used by Keith but I have edited the URL of the site.]
......................................................................
STEP FIRST: VERIFY YOURSELF
USE ONLY "Internet Explorer" for verify (not use Firefox / chrome / opera / safari etc. )
copy the link and paste it on default browser Internet Explorer only
http://someurl.in/infor/454789.html
Go to the given link and in next page open any one working link.
By this we can verify your IP with our BIDVERTISER tracking system.
..........................................................................
After reading his email, I realised that he is not what he claims to be. He is asking me to click a BidVertiser link. Does he think that I am so stupid? He says that I have to verify myself by clicking the link in order to get the project.
I found a UNSUBSCRIBE button at the end of the mail, clicked on it, and unsubscribed. But you know what, he keeps on sending emails almost everyday. He writes that so and so project has been awarded to Mr So-and-so from so and so country.
I know that I just have to click the SPAM button and he's gone. Anyway, I wanted to know if you ever received similar emails from this chap?

Not yet.. I normally don't open any email that obviously is a spam. Sometimes these people will do something to entice you. I don't know how they do it. But my spam box as well as the inbox will mostly be filled with emails from different persons. But since I don't know those names or am not actually registered to some of those, I won't open it I select all of them and put into trash. Good that you got rid of him and didn't fall into his scam.

He signed up for a particular site/group.
I guess the site is not a legit one or one of spammers modus.

Hi jaiho2009, the site is legit but these scamsters take advantage of these legit sites too.
Yes, enelym001, scammers will try anything.

First, so you paid $60+ to get into Guru.com. Is it?
It's really shocking that these people get into Guru.com too. Normally, the admin would verify the projects and the providers for their legitimacy. Didn't Guru.com admin do that?
I wonder what benefit can this guy get by posting projects like this. He is going to get peanuts, finally to get banned by Bidvertiser.

@venkataraman_vc - No I didn't pay $60. Anyone can sign up for free but needs to pass a test. The test itself is not compulsory but if you pass the test, you have a better chance of getting projects. There's nothing wrong with the project. It was like - visit some websites and copy-paste details in a spread sheet. There's a lot of similar projects on Guru.com so the admin would naturally think that the project is genuine.
@mariahhh - Yes, you are right.

Are there projects for free members? I checked long back. At that time, there was projects only for people who enroll with $60.

True but I had to open it since the first message came directly from Keith's guru.com account.
