I'm from the Philippines & a stay-at-home mom.In order to fight away boredom & to keep myself busy,I'm planning to put up a small sari sari store inside my house only.I will just open my front windows & display my stuffs there, so basically it will be a very small sari- sari store.Initial capital would be around 2k only. I just wanna know if I still need to secure a business permit. My location is not crowded 'coz it's an exclusive subdivision so profit is not so big. I've asked permission already from the homeowner's association office admin. & she said it's ok. I hope somebody here could enlighten me regarding this matter. Thanks!

Hi! I'm not quite sure but I think it's not that necessary for a small sari-sari store with a very small income. I'm pretty sure too that the BIR won't waste their time chasing after taxes of such small scale businesses. But if you wanna play safe, you can always file a permit but I think it's just gonna take you a lot of effort for just a small business.

As far you open a business you need to get a business permit, but as far your business is concern, once you get a business permit its a yearly doing on your side, and with your capital, for me, i don't think it is the right time for you to get the business permit, it costs a lot you know the govt here in the Philippines, you need to pay all the agencies, you need a lot a money for securing the permit. A friend of mine who is work is securing the permit, advice me that if my business is a sari sari store, its not advisable for securing the permit, its because the capital its too small, the earning is not fixed or not a large amount.
Its better also that you get an advise to your accountant if you have or someone who know the in and out of the business.

I'm not sure about it but I heard that you can start a small business and take a permit if it's successfully running for 6 months.I hope it applies to all small businesses in the Philippines.Maybe it also depends on your location.God Bless You in your new endeavor.
