I have been trying to make French toasts. But somehow, I am not a bit satisfied with what I made. This is usually how I make it. 2pcs of sliced bread 1 egg 100ml of milk jam or fresh fruits as filling butter - heat the pan in low heat. - beat the egg - mix the egg and milk together. - placed jam/filling between the breads - heat a half a teaspoon of butter. - dip the bread into the mixture quickly. - fry til brown. -flip. and fry the other side til brown. am i doin it right? How do you make French toasts?

French toast is one of those things that almost everybody makes different. I make it a little different than most, but everybody here loves it this way. If I'm only making for one person, I take one egg, 1/2 teaspoon Creamora (liquid coffee creamer, the French Vanilla one), and 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla flavoring, plus about a 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon. Stir it all up, dip the breads in, and fry on a medium heated frying pan that has a little butter (or spray Pam, or some veg. oil) on it. My family and friends always ask me to make them my special French toast because it's got more flavor to it. The Creamora (instead of milk) adds a great flavor, as well as the other ingredients. For regular plain old French toast, it would be: milk, and an egg whipped together. If I was doing the jam filling, I wouldn't put it in until they were cooked, OR I would fry the one side, and when I flipped, put the jelly on the already cooked side, and the other cooked side on top of that, and continue cooking (and flipping to get that final side done.

I agree! If I want to put a filling in, I use a thicker slice of bread, slit a pocket in it, fill the pocket, then fry lightly on both sides, then put in the oven at 350...it rises amazing, so is very light and fluffy! Yes, JoyfulOne, it is something to let your imagination run wild with..and just keep experimenting..it's ALL good! LOL
