Had a good day today

As many of my friends know, I have been suffering a lot with pain in my toes and back. I will be having my MRI on Wednesday morning. Anyway, the pain has been tolerable today and my depression has lifted a lot... so I got a lot of housework done today that needed doing. I washed windows in our new laundry area. It was a storage room, and it has been cleared out it is where I can do ironing, and folding of clothes. We emptied a book case of old books that were just taking up space, and now we are using that to fold towels and sheets and stuff. I also put stuff that needs ironing there, and then when I get time I iron them.
I swept the floor and washed the baseboards, and then swept and mopped the kitchen. I washed the white door that had dulled gray over the years, and it is nice and white again.
Tomorrow I plan to clean the cupboards and to clean out the refrigerator. I think there might be a science experiment growing in there, because it hasn't been thoroughly cleaned in a couple of months. I feel like I'm doing spring cleaning, but it's in the late fall instead.
What have you been doing today? Please share.

hi dear PQ you have really been super busy with all you did. I did a batch of ironing Friday on my day off and also went through quite a number of Church Diocese Bulletins so this is cared for as well now.
Today has been a quiet but nice Sunday, Daylight savings time ended this night from Sat to Sun and I am a little more tired than normal today.
Oh yes we sorted out the freezer a bit putting all the stuff that has to go into one of these drawers. Will have to sort out the pantry when I have two weeks off soon but first my closet in the master bedroom needs to be fixed. I wanted to rearrange a bit there and we found out that some parts are starting to give way so it would be a matter of time till you hear some loud noise and find the shirts are flying in said closet and the shelves are where ever on the bottom. sigh. I dont want to buy a new one so I hope my husband can fix it.

You did a lot RitterSport! I hope to stay as busy as you do .. or try to. It is really helping my mind. Of course there may be days that I can't do to the pain, but I worked in spite of the pain today and just worked for an hour each time today, making 2 hours of working. I will try to do two hours each day and try to show that I have pride in the home i live in... instead of focusing so much on the pain.

I worry about you and your back, because you do so much walking. I know walking is good, but if your back already hurts the walking can get difficult. I think about you every day dear one! Love you!

Wow, PQ, I sure hope you get some encouraging news after the MRI! Please keep us informed! If there's anything I can do, just shout. Oh, if the MRI doesn't show anything, ask your doctor about an angiogram. My husband had pain in his toes, back and down one leg and it turned out to be a blockage in his aorta in his abdomen. He had that fixed and the pain is totally gone now.
I know all about chronic pain and depression, believe me! I was just diagnosed with bursitis in both hips (and that's on top of the fibromyalgia and arthritis I've had for years). It's made walking quite miserable at times but I try not to let it stop me completely. Sometimes it does stop me but I just ride it out and I'm up and doing things before long.
I haven't done much today because my back is screaming at me today. I was washing dishes and cleaning up the kitchen a bit when my back said, "Okay, that's enough. If you don't sit down right NOW, I'm going to make you regret it!" So I listened and sat. I'm pretty sure I'm hurting worse today because yesterday we had that freak snowstorm. I had some plants in really large planters that had to come inside and my husband wasn't around so I had to do it. Oh, and the day before I helped to bring my boat out of the water and under cover. (I didn't add much help but I felt good at least trying.) Anyway, my back is yelling at me now for all those things so I haven't wanted to do much today.
Oh, and I made a HUGE pot of beef stew yesterday, while it was snowing. It seemed like the perfect day to make stew or soup or something like that. I'm glad I did because I don't have to make anything for tonight's dinner.
I think I'm getting used to the pain and it doesn't depress me as much as it used to. If I feel extra bad, I rest and know that I'll be better soon.
I certainly hope you are feeling better soon. I hope they can determine what is causing your pain and have an easy fix for it.

hi pointless questions oddly when I first read that you had back pains and pains in your toes I did think of gout. I believe uric
acid is elevated thats a symptom of gout too. hope its a minor thing. I had a table mate from the Philippines who has gout and she cannot eat hardly any meat or her toes really hurt.anyway heres hoping the Mri will really pinpoint all your troubles and the doctor be able to fix you up so you are not hurting. hugs from hatley

I learned something today. I have a friend who has gout but it affects his knees more than his toes. I suppose it can really affect any joints but I didn't realize it can cause back pain, too. PQ, I really hope there's a simple remedy for you. If water helps, I'd be a walking water balloon. LOL My friend with gout, who is a MALE, is a bit stubborn about drinking water. Maybe that is a guy thing, I don't know.

Hi MentalWard,
Wow! Your stew sounds wonderful. I heard about snow in NY and NJ. You must be up there somewhere? Ouch! Fibro and arthritis, and now bursitis? I get pain in my right hip when I sit too long at the computer, and then I have to make several tries to get out of this chair to get to the bed. It's just the right side that I have problems with... the doc thinks it is due to my back. I have degenerative disc disease and have had it for over 20 years.. so this is probably a continuation of that back problem. I also have had nerve blocks in the past, and the doc said if it is my back I will have more nerve blocks done.
My uric acid is also elevated, and the doc wants me to drink lots of water to try and flush that out.. because I may have some gout going on too... she will recheck that next month when I get my biopsy done on my face... she thinks I have another cancer on my forehead.

I'm so glad you are feeling better. It makes me feel better to know people I care about are feeling better. And you have been such a nice person to talk to on mylot that it's nice when a break comes your way. Hopefully that MRI will show the exact problem and they can get on to the solution pronto. Today I have been taking it easy. I had a horrible migraine yesterday and spent much of the day lying down or getting a closeup of the toilet bowl if you know what I mean. I'm keeping food down today but still have some pain. I still have some of the pills they gave me in the emergency room two weeks ago when I went in, so I took them. I am better now though than I was yesterday afternoon. So thank goodness. Right now I'm watching football.

Oh Amber, you poor dear! I remember you suffer greatly from migraines. I remember you were able to get a massage some months ago, but the person is far away from you. Does ice help? I heard that ice packs to the head where the pain is helps. You have probably already tried that. I almost think there is a chemical imbalance that causes migraines. My daughter has them at times, but she is on other meds for her mental illness, and I think that causes her pain.
I'm glad you are feeling some better today. Thank you for your kind words. I'm so happy to be feeling better today also. It's been weeks that I have been down with this pain. I hope the MRI does show the problem so I can get fixed...lol.

It's good to hear that you had a good day today. It does sound like you have been busy. I woke up and worked on some stuff for our school week, then went to the grocery store and now I am cooking. I have baked a cake, have deviled eggs on, have cooked beans and potatoes and I am getting ready to fix baked cauliflower, corn, and rolls. I really have cleaned a little bit too, but I still need to vaccum my floor.

Oh.. I've never had baked cauliflower. I've had it boiled and raw only. Do you make it into a casserole?
I need to vacuum the floors here too.. but may do that later in the week. I want to get things where I have a schedule to do things each day. One day next week I hope to get someone to take my blinds down so I can take them outside to wash them.

Oh dear you sound like me on a good day.
I haven't been doing much lately since I did not feel well and had a lot of pain also. So on these days I try to do the things I need to do and take care of my family. If I am lucky I find something to do that makes me notice it all less.
On my good days I clean up a lot too, which is not a smart thing to do because mostly that is way too much work for me and it will revenge it on me again.
Pity my mind is so much more healthy as my body is.
I wish you a lot of positive energy.

Hi WakeUpKitty,
I really think this exercise has helped me a lot today to get me out of this terrible depression. The chronic pain has caused me to be severely depressed where I cry all the time... this has really made me feel good inside.
I hope that it doesn't take revenge on me tomorrow, because I have things I want to do tomorrow in the house.
It's good that you can still function on days you are still hurting, and take care of your family. I do the bare minimum when I am hurting and a lot suffers. I keep dishes up, and do some cooking sometimes... but mostly everyone must kind of fend for themselves with soup or Ramen or something. Tonight I am making Manwich.

hi pointless questions wow you made me tired just sitting here reading all you got done but am glad your pain is a lot less.
its no fun with pain in your back and toes too. I had diabetic
neuropathy with first diagnosed but worked hard to lose 50 pounds an the pain left. I am glad you are having an MRi to find out what is causing the pains. me as its almost the end of Oct have been mylotting but spent the morning sleeping.I have courtesy of my
table mate Celia who will not over her mouth or nose, a mean little virus cold. sore throat, sneezing and a nose running like a faucet.
I had to laugh as I called my son to find out why he had not come to see me and he was coughing and sneezing. He had the same symptoms
as I have. just one of those colds that seem to be passed from one person to another. yuck. But the good thing about a cold is it usually does not last long. And unless I get bronchitis I will not have to go to the doctor for this. Tomorrow is our Halloween party and I want to go but dread the food. there are a lot of people here with diabetes but some do not seem to have the problem I have if I go very high I can go into a coma and could die. so how does one handle the goodies everyone else eats when you do not see a darned thing that will not make me sick. lol. but if I feel like this tomorrow I am going to mylot and let the rest eat all that sugary crap and gain twenty pounds.

Hi Mrs Hatley. I'm proud of what I have accomplished in2 days. Today I emptied the fridge and took it apart and washed it all and threw out all of the food that was expiring. Now I have a totally clean fridge for when we go shopping on Thursday. I also swept the kitchen and did dishes. My toes are killing me so I am in bed now using my iPhone to mylot with. I feel like my toe pain is some type of neuropathy. It always huts with numbness in between the toes. It may be due to the sciatic nerve. Have a good day dear one. Hugs to you.

Wow you were a lot busier then me today!
This is great news though that you have kept so busy accomplishing a great deal and am sure that having done the tasks gives you a great feeling. I know that when I go into my cleaning sprees it really uplifts my mode as well. Nothing like organization to give us a sense of accomplishment. I know that cleaning house helps with my depression as well as the hours flow on by so fast I don't have time to think about other things.
Be sure to prop up your feet for a bit tonight, you want to get the circulation upward after standing and stooping a great deal today.
I did quite a bit Friday and Saturday here, so this today was my lazy day.

Oh Mrs Hatley I am sorry you have caught a virus and do hope it gets better as the day goes by. Yes I do enjoy coming here often as it gets my mind off of anything offline that I am worried about. Coming here with the occassional drops in as you and so many other do is always a wonder boost to my mylot session of the day.
Be well and I know you will do well at the end of the month.

Thanks HWG! I am propping up in bed. I can't stand for the covers to touch my toes at times.. it feels like fire touching them. Even my other foot touching them feels like fire. A light touch feels like fire, but when I apply harder pressure the hot sensation is gone. It's just so weird. A light touch is intolerable, but a firm touch doesn't give me any pain. Wearing a shoe is intolerable though.. walking is difficult with a shoe.
