As we all remember around the 80's,Video killed the radio star, (LOL song reference) well It seemed like youtube is now trying and attempting to kill TV. Youtube is planning to launch a 24 hour "TV network" and there might be other networks soon. As in we have Youtube exclusive TV shows with TV program budgets. Its going to start this 2012.
It has been a vision of mine before to start my "tv network" with programs in youtube. I guess we may have action series, drama shows, reality shows and news programs. for sure its a longway but in 50 years, TV might die., But I have a feeling Cable may die first.

Interesting!! However, I don't see how youtube is going to put up with TV shows. Not to mention, it's annoying when the videos keep buffering. TV has a lot of commercials, but the footage is never buffering. In my country everybody has cable, I think the local channels are not so popular anymore. Do you really think people can live without pay per view? Especially, those WWE fanatics, LMAO

I guess they will try to fix up their damn connection. I can see those youtube shows will be part of human's lives but for sure it wont replace Tv in a snap of a finger. It would be a long road for them to fulfill these goal,it will take generations.

hello Capt,
They need to have all internet companies have a stable signal to kill TV and cable esp here in our country.
Sometimes internet signal's too slow or down for a day.
And that annoys me a lot esp calling their customer care (duh)

that's why I give them 50 years to do it, but we know texting killed pagers and telegraph in few years. Printers killed typewriters in just 10 years. internet puts news papers in comatose (its still alive but in America its in comatose. Facebook killed Friendster in 2 years.

I think they were still working on it, cos its launch is in 2012, i think what youtube want to happen is for people to watch tv on the internet instead. But forsure its a long before andits just baby steps. This project is very ambitious forsure.

I don't think so because TV still has a better video quality and the scenes are seamless unlike in intenet video streaming like youtube.

lets just wait and see how its goingto turn out, they might be developing some sort of technology to make this project. I guess their target audience are people with fast internet connection. I can actually watch live videos in youtube in high definition when my internet is fast.

Everything has to move on at some point, tv has been around for a little over 35 years now, and has been constantly improved, I am waiting for holographics. That is what I think will take over next.
