Hello everyone. I am 18 years old and I do not like to eat vegetables. My parents urged me to try it but I really hate the taste. I feel horrible. I would prefer eating fruits that vegetables.
My wonderful friends and fellow MyLotter, is it okay if I do not eat vegetables and I will just eat fruits as its substitute? I feel like I am allergic to vegetables.

Enjoy your life because its going to be super short.a person who doesnt eat vegetables will be gone by 55. Your hate of vegetables is psychological. You know can blend vegetables with fruits and you wont notice them. Or maybe vegetable capsules might work for you,Fruits can actually give a person diabetes if its too much. You hate vegetables because of their texture and blandness, You can blend or ground them and mix them with your meaty foods like meatballs or sauces.

thats why you have to blend them and ground them so you wont feel the texture, its the texture you hated. You can mix those ground vegetables in your meatballs or sauces. Or you can blend them with fruit shakes.
Vegetable and herbal capsules will be the solution to your problem,You also need to take some fiber additives to your drinks, to catch up with your lack of vegetables.
Are younotable to eat basics like Potatoes ,garlic ,onion and tomato sauce too?

I think even a blend of vegetables won't do. But, I will try it though. I will also try those capsules.
Somewhat, I eat basic like potatoes and corn but not garlic, onion and tomato.

I bet if you were blindfolded and given certain veggies to eat you would like them.you are not going to live to be old without eating your veggies. get over it and try different things./ some flavors mightr really appeal to you if you give them a chance.you can make fruit veggie shakes that taste only of fruit too. you need those veggies and the vitamins and minerals in them

I am quite a bit older than you but I to hate veges! I will eat corn, carrots and lettuce...but that is it! As a kid, I had to sit at the table till I ate them...and after literally hours of sitting there and not eating them, I was told to go to my room and get ready for bed. Peas were the worst! Green beans I can stomach, but other than that...give me fruits and meat! You aren't allergic...just don't like the taste! I don't either and after all these years...I am very healthy

Oh yes, I hate the taste. I really hate the taste so much. My mother and father did not urge me to eat vegetables, I usually separate it and give it to them. Corn? Yes, I can eat corn. Carrots and lettuce? I cannot afford to swallow it.

We're opposite. I love vegetables. First, I know I can find in them the nutrients my body needs. Second, my father is a farmer, he owns a farm, and he plants plenty of vegetables. We make a lot of money out of vegetables!

Wow, you are so fortunate that your father owned a farm. Maybe, that is the reason why you love eating vegetables so much. Though how hard I push myself to eat vegetables, I still cannot do it. I prefer sea foods than vegetables.

your parents did not push you hard enough.
My children did not like every vegetable either. But basic vegetables like carrots, potatoes, corn, peas and greenbeans they did eat.
I did not get into squash or broccoli, or other vegetables until they ate basics.
Potatoes, you can make augratin (baked with cheese), or mashed add butter milk salt and pepper after cooking and mashing the potatoes, hashbrowns meaning take the potatoes and shred or dice them up and fry them in skillet with a dash of butter and salt and pepper to taste.
Carrots I love to steam and then drizzle two tablespoons of butter mixed with honey and melted together and pour over my carrots.
I also grill veggies with soy sauce and butter and pepper.
My mother was not a cook that would go on the other side to try something new. Everything was bland and I had to teach myself.
Now I like broccoli and rice with cheese casserole.
you are the only one that can turn yourself around to likeing vegetables.
Its an adventure to good health.
my children always ate vegetables. there was always one that each of them did not like but to say you can't eat any vegetable, you just need to open your window of cooking and tasting to allow yourself to adjust to adding this wonderful food to your table.
good luck and hoped I helped and encouraged you to try alternatives.

You need to eat some green foods containing chlorophyll, in order for your liver to make enzymes that help keep it clean, and for the various vitamins and minerals and fiber. Also most vegetables and fruits help to alkalize your body, if you have a high acid level in your body the acid can cause inflammation and all sorts of chronic problems. The health food stores sell green powders from various vegetables, that would be one way to get them, although fresh is much better for the enzymes.

I really do not have a deep knowledge about the benefits of vegetables in our body. I was not exposed of eating green and leafy vegetables. What are those vegetables containing chlorophyll needed for our liver to make enzymes?

While all green plants contains chlorophyll a, and most vegetables that we eat contain both chlorophyll a and chlorophyll b, some vegetables contain particularly high amounts of total chlorophyll. Best studied of all the vegetables is spinach (Spinacia oleracea in the Latin scientific name), with this vegetable containing about 300-600 milligrams per ounce.
All of the green vegetables in the World's Healthiest Foods - asparagus, bell peppers, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, green cabbage, celery, collard greens, green beans, green peas, kale, leeks, green olives, parsley, romaine lettuce, sea vegetables, spinach, Swiss chard, and turnip greens are concentrated sources of chlorophyll.

You can survive on a limited diet, but to do so it would help if you went to a doctor or dietician to work out a diet in which you get all your nutrition without having to eat vegetables. It is like people who are lactose intolerant but need to ingest calcium, can either do it through supplements or eat things like canned sardines as it is very high in calcium. There are alternatives to many of the vitamins and minerals we obtain from vegetables, but vegetables are just easier to obtain. You say you hate vegetables, have you tried a lot of them? Sometimes it has to do with specific vegetables and how they are prepared that make us not like them, try things like potatoes, tomatoes, carrots or things like vegetable soups which seem to be the easiest starter foods. I am sorry I can not be more help because I like most vegetables and fruit so can't imagine not eating them.

It is okay. What you response is already a big help for. I believe that I must see a doctor about my issue. Are french fries can be considered or derived vegetable? Oh, I love to eat french fries. On the other hand, sad to say, I do not eat carrots neither tomatoes.

Well, I enjoy eating both fruits and vegetables. I think maybe your parents should have pushed you harder to try vegetables when you were younger so that you don't hate them as much when you are an adult. But if you are allergic then I guess eating fruits is pretty good too. The government here says eating 5 servings of fruits and/or vegetables a day is good for you. So I try to do that.

LOL. The allergic there doesn't actually means as the word itself. My parents did not push me to eat vegetables and maybe that is exactly the reason why I don't eat vegetables up to now. I think I will try to eat vegetables later on.

Hi kaichoukebz! Biologically, I don't think there's such thing as allergic to vegetables, perhaps just psychologically Vegetables are an important part of a healthy diet. If you don't eat vegetables, you will die! Hehehe just kidding! But seriously, vegetables contain vitamins and minerals and enzymes essential to our body. However, if you really can't grow in love with veggies, I guess it's okay to just eat fruits as substitute. Fruits have a lot of vitamins and minerals and important enzymes too, as well as cleansing fibers and antioxidants. Just make sure that you couple it with exercise and a healthy lifestyle

Hahaha! I didn't like exercising either but over time I grew in love with it especially that I know that it's an important part of our daily routine. Well you don't really need to go to the gym, lift some weights, do aerobics or lay out your yoga mat and do some stretching, just a simple walking or running will do. Or you can also just do some cleaning around the house, run some errands, or even window shopping!

That is another problem, I do not exercise. All I want to do are sleeping, watching television, eating, and surfing the internet. Maybe from now on, I will add exercising to my list of activities.

Well there are 2 sides to this. First of all are you talking about any kind of vegetable? And raw or boiled? For example I hate and I do mean HATE boiled or cooked vegetable of any kind but I can dig raw ones in salads with chicken strips or cheese of course :)
But if you don't like vegetables of any kind in any way then it might be a slight problem. No matter how healthy you think you are now with age it goes downhill. And the less healthier you eat the faster it goes down. So you do need to substitute them with fruit and you can do that but you need to eat different kinds of fruits to cover all the vitamins and minerals your body needs.
So yes, it can be done, but it means you need about half of your food to be just fruit, the other half being meat, bread or other bakery products, sweets, drinks and so on. And if you don't know what you need to eat to cover everything then you can apply the general rule that works with vegetable, the color rule. Try to eat fruits of every color, usually different minerals or vitamins give colors. The way I do it is "cover the rainbow" :) cherry, strawberry or any berry, watermelon, orange or tangerines, mango, yellow melon, banana, apple, pinapple, kiwi, plum and anything else you can fit in. Good luck!

Well, I am talking about most of the vegetables. Even though I put a vegetable in any other dish or dessert, I still separate it and just throw it away. I think I just have to go with the fruits because they are sweet and tasty. My mother always slices me fruits when I was a kid so until now, I still cling in eating fruits.

Hey you know what our ancients used to eat fruits. But it's better if you include vegetables in your diet. Because some of the minerals and vitamins which are important to our body are in vegetables. Try them by cooking them in different way. Cooked vegetables taste better. so them cooking. You can see many recipes in the web. Try them.

I don't hate vegetables that much.Actually,I can eat vegetables directly because I myself don't need to cook, that's very convenient for me.Besides, many kinds of vegetables are really delicious. Therefore,I like vegetables,to some extent. While for fruit,I also like to eat,but I'm a very lazy boy,and I hate to peer the skin of the fruits, what's worse, the juice of the fruits always makes my hands wet and adhesive, and that's really uncomfortable. But fruits are also really delicious,I would try to overcome my laziness when eating fruits in the coming days.

They both are nutritious but most fruits contain more sugar (fructose and glucose) which require no enzymatic reaction which can mean that they can easily pass through your intestine where they are automatically absorbed for instant energy. In contrast to that, veggies are less sweeter than fruits and are starchier hence they give you long chains of saccharides. Veggies are usually higher than fruits in many vitamins and minerals. ;)
It's on how you prepare your veggies so it'd be suitable for your taste buds. Try blind taste test :D

I think you have developed a kind of hated towards vegetables in your mind. My friend I tell once develop a kind of liking towards it you'll definitely start liking it. The reason I am telling you to have vegetables is mainly because of it's nutritional values. Not every time you can live on fruits though it is a very good nutritional supplement....
If not all vegetables you can first try few of them and then start trying out more of therm so that after couple of days you just start loving it....
Keep good health friend

No one is allergic to vegetables, I think. You should still try and eat some. There are all kinds of vegetables out there that doesn't taste bad. You should try the leafy vegetables like lettuce and cabbage, put some sauce on it. Or carrots and tomato- yum.

Good day, friend. I think it's okay if you don't want to eat vegetables. Since you feel horrible of the taste of these vegetables, fruits would be a better choice for you. They contain the same nutrients and vitamins as vegetables and have better tastes. I understand why your parents urged you to try it. After all, it's quite important to keep a good diet.
But being forced to eat something you dislike seems to be a torture. So if you do not want to eat vegetable, just try fruits. You can talk to your parents about it. And you can try vegetable and fruit juices, maybe it's more acceptable for you.

I think to have fruit instead of vegetables is enough for you. But you must vary the type of fruit.Do not eat only some fruit, let say you like Orange and you eat Orange every day. That is not healthy.
Choose fruit that green and red in color or any fruit. It will be balance. Also, vary the fruit which has high fiber and low fiber content.
And one more, do not forget to take sport.

Fruits are my best-liked. I can eat different kinds of fruits of my choice as much as possible everyday. I eat apple, orange, guava, and mango.
I am not incline to sports because I am just here in our house. I do not exercise also because I am a lazy person.
