Mylot has changed but old discussions keep comming back.

Many times I follow threads of discussions that are posted in the right side of the page I´m reading. I like a title and go there. And a lot of times I find old posts with 4 or 5 years of age. I don´t mind the age, as long as their content is interesting. But sometimes there are posts that should have been deleted by the administrtion. I´m sure that the rules we have now are a lot different than the ones at the beginning. So many people have links at those posts! So many mylotters give recipes that look as if they were a copy-paste from a recipe site. I wish that, just as I clean my freezer once in a while (although I hate the job), mylot would do that too, to spare us the loss os time reading those posts that are as rotten as a carrot left for months at the fridge. What do you think of this? Could we help in some way? Should we send a note to the administration? Do you encounter this problem? Share!

Those who have started these discussions post something there so that they come under 'recent' topics. I too get disgusted as one is not sure if the discussion is old or whether one has already responded to it.A lot of time is wasted to find this out. I have put this down somewhere.

The discussions were started 5 years ago, but they keep coming up. If the site hs not deleted it, it´s fair if a mylotter answers it, no matter how illegal it looks.

It is not illegal to answer old discussion but they come in the way of the new ones and as I said in my response it is time consuming to find out whether they have been responded to or not.

I often read old posts but seldom comment on them as they are over a year old! and even some have not got a best response!

I don´t mind replying to posts that are a year old, specially if the mylotter is still loging here. But 5 years sounds sort of stale. don´t you think?

hi marquicha yes they should be weeded out the ones that break rules as its most unpleasant to respond to one of these and then find out it was deleted along with my response as it had broken the later rules. so maybe it would not hurt if we also reported them if mylot does not see them.but again one should not just report indiscriminately as it might not have broken any rule really. I have not found any rule breakers so far bu t I do not alway respond to all the older ones I see. b

The problem is that one loses so much time reading and reporting those sites. It´s not really our job, Hatley. Yet they are place there for us to read and comment.

Hi Marguicha, I doubt anyone wants to take the trouble of cleaning up the website, since we are paid for posting, and not paid for flagging out discussions for deletion. It will be a waste of time to go through old discussion threads. I think we should just leave it, and get on with the current discussion threads. If the Admin decides to provide incentive for flagging posts which violate the current TOS, then that is a different story.

If such thing happens to you, you´d better not answer too old posts. And remember that quality in answers count too. It´s better to explain what you mean in more details, so that other people follow your thread. Your earnings should not have much to do with the moment the post was written.

Well, since there are so many New discussions being started all the time a lot of times there will be discussions that are against the TOS that are still posted here maybe just because no one bothered to flag them. I know there have been times I will see something and wonder why it is still there. But personally they cannot be everywhere at once. That is why they are usually expecting us to help them.

I help when I can by reporting, but I only do it when I have time. I know the administration cannot be everywhere and usually they do a lot more that anyone can expect. I suppose that if we all help a bit, things will go better little by little. Take care.

YES...marguicha...I so fully concur with you and I think the intrigue comes from the fact they are focused on the side of the page..! I often read those, then see the posting date (yes, have wasted time)and realize there are "rule" busters there! I wonder if these discussions are grand-fathered, because they were made before current TOS and FAQ's! Like you say, sure wished they could be "archived" and NOT mixed in with current postings! Have a spectacular day...dear one!

I´m answering so late because besides a big weekend in my country, we had this maintenance at mylot. I wonder sometimes if we should make new posts according to the new rules but bases on old posts. The old ones should be archived and ours answwered by new mylottersd who weren´t there a long time ago.

I too agree with you...you know, stine1's original account got deleted because she kept picking at the slackness of the mylot admin!! i guess the only thing we can do is report those discussions & hope the admin get around to doing something about it.

I have never looked at those. I do occasionally find older discussions, but not very often. I agree that if the posts break the rules they should be removed. Do you report them when you see them or just go on to the next one?

Hi Deb, Sometimes, when I have more time, I report them, specially when I see that the person who posted it is no longer an active member. But lately I haven´t had much time because I don´t have much energy. I think that I finally got caught by the chemo. Well, I suppose it´s a phase. Take care!

I am a new mylotter, but could understand the frustration. I am sure they could develop a program to collect the web pages so someone could go through it and see if it follows the rules. I wouldn't worry about it too much though. BTW what a mental image left for me of the carrot.

One of the mylotters who answered just told me we could report those discussions and they would delete them. That´s a good idea and we would help each other.

I can see your point marguicha and I agree that these old useless discussions should be deleted; I know we can help by reporting them but I don’t know about you but I don’t always have the time for such a chore. I will help out whenever I can but these days I’m lucky if I manage to get to my notifications in my inbox let alone look up other posts! You are right though, they are annoying…

That is my problem, paula. If I use my time online reporting sites, I will not have timee to talk with my friends. Today, for instance, I feel absolutly behind my wishes. I had a long weekend in my country and did not do much mylotting and then we had rhe long maintenance.

Yes, my lot design and face has changed, i too have little bit confused. But it is fine now. New design will increase the site rank. Yes, we can see that our my lot rank will improve better and better.

Iam still very new in Mylots but I think that a good idea. It will also save time and energy as you don't have to go through a long list.
