Don't you just hate it when your favorite character dies?

I was just watching Mutant Chronicles a while ago which was about men against mutants. A team was formed to destroy the machine which turn humans into mutants and one of the team members was Duval played by Devon Aoki. I like Devon Aoki and I was rooting for her character in this movie, I had hoped that she would lived but it turned out that there would only be one survivor in this movie. Duval died and was even cut in half. I was really disappointed.

Yes, say in a movie, if I have been identifying with a character on an emotional level, just rooting for them to stay alive, and they proceed to be killed; or die, I feel really upset. In fact, it can ruin a movie for me. I know the character is not a real life person, but that's the thing about movies: suspension of disbelief: it's what draws you in in the first place.

I will never kill or disturb my character. I can do as per my character only, if my character says some thing is not good me/society, i will never do it. Totally every work/activity in my life can go according to the guidelines of my character. There is no chance to change my character.

I do not think that the original poster of the discussion was talking about our characters as in who we are but rather characters in a movie or television show - not the actors or actresses but the people being portrayed in the movie or show.
