Subliminal political messages in commercials, I guess that is free speech right? Oh wait wasn't that made illegal, maybe not if it doesn't move faster than the eye can normally detect...
Sharpie wants people to stop protesting.....Questions and Comments?

I'm laughing right now at all the people who think this commercial is targeted at stopping Occupy protests. It was made and viewable online a month before the protests even started.
It's coincidence, not subliminal messaging. Sharpie makes money off of protesters, so why would they want them to stop?

Could you provide a link if you don't mind I am not questioning what you are saying I just want to find out more myself because I keep reading that certain areas are/were being targeted. I would like to see if there is a pattern to it or not.

It doesn't fall under the definition of subliminal. Whether or not the sign means anything or if the company really wants people to stop protesting, is subjective.
I don't know whether Sharpie's sales go up during protests or not but if they do, then the company probably could care less.

sub·lim·i·nal (sb-lm-nl)
adj. Psychology
1. Below the threshold of conscious perception. Used of stimuli.
2. Inadequate to produce conscious awareness but able to evoke a response: subliminal propaganda.
There is nothing subliminal about the message. Maybe suggestive, but not subliminal. If it was subliminal you wouldn't be aware of it.

I have seen the commercial and I do remember seeing the message. I tend to pick up on those things. You might lose that bet if I've seen the commercials. Of course there is a possibility some don't pick up on those things. I think the more creative one is, (I'm a writer) the more likely they are to catch them. That's my theory and I'm sticking with it.

Creative people are supposedly both introverted as well as extroverted. Introverted people are more resistant to hypnosis/subliminal suggestions like the video I posted above. So you could be right on the bet. It would be an interesting experiment to try with your family, while watching commercials have everyone pick 3 randoms things than ask each other at the end to see how observant everyone is.
