Stealing lunches at work

My friend just started a new job and his lunch is being stolen every day at work. To make matters worse, he doesn't even put the lunch in the fridge he keeps it in his napsack and they go right into his bag and steal his lunch. He complained to the boss but nothing has been done about it. He is going to make something that tastes really awful hoping that will teach them a lesson and they won't do it again. he has two ideas, put dish washing liquid in pudding so that they will spit out the first bite, or put a laxative in the pudding. Apparently that is what they did at another place where people were stealing people's lunches.

I'd go the Exlax Brownies route, myself. Is there no way your friend could keep his lunch at his workstation?

Those other people need to get out of his workstation... I hate people getting into my personal space and that includes a desk or workstation if I'm at work. Ugh....

That's sad that someone would do that. Your friend can do things to his food that wouldn't do much damage but will make the person wish they never touched his food. He can add a drop of dish soap, just enough they wouldn't notice it til its to late. Dish soap will cause them to visit the bathroomoom so much. A drop of hot sauce mixed with mayo on his sandwich, just enough it will set their mouth on fire. I wish my husband was here, he would be able to come up with more. Another thing he could do is announce loudly after he notices his lunch missing, say that he put a medicine pill in his pudding. Who ever took it might want to go to the ER quickly, lol. I do love the laxative idea, but he will get the same affect with the dish soap, which he can mix with the mayo and not be discovered. Good luck to your friend. May He have fun, getting the person that feels good at taking his food from his bag.

the hot sauce won't work the people working there are foreigners mostly and they would just love the hot sauce/ the dishwashing and the laxative we already thought of thanks for the ideas,

Another idea is to loudly mention an hour or so after lunch (after this guy has once again noticed someone stole his lunch) that whomever ate his lunch should be aware that the sandwich was made with mayo that was left out overnight accidentally and so was the turkey (or whatever meat was on the sandwich) and the tomato might have been spoiled... Even if all of that is untrue, it would likely get a reaction out of the lunch stealer so at least he'd know who it was. If someone brought to my attention that the sandwich I had just eaten was made with spoiled ingredients, I think I'd feel sick lol.

hi just rememembered somethingl. we often bought treats like donuts or bagels for the whole library staff. any that were left over in that sack were game for whoever took a break and wanted a nibble.so on my break I found this great looking bagel all by itself in the left overs sack. so I as sumed it was u p for grab s. so I ate it. well come lunch I was eating my lunch when my boss came in.She rummaged all around in the fridge looking for something. then she asked me did you see anyone eating a bagel, I left my bagel for later and now its gone. Oh my gosh I thought I ate her oninon and cheese bagel. I was too embarrassed and shy to respond but she looked at me then laughed." i should have put my name on the sack as otherwise whoever took it thought it was in the up for grabs left over sack. You ate it didnt you?I nodded after to speak then she said"you would not know as its in the up for grabs sack. dont feel bad" So then I told her I really thought it was left over. ?She was one of those bosses you just really are lucky to get. sadly she moved from our local library to her hometown branch of the library system and we got the boss from hell instead. If anyone had eaten something of hers she would probably have fired them.

Actually, this is great. You know you can get something called "disclosure tablets" that stain your teeth red where you need to brush. They would look like candy or peppers in food.

How can people do that, stealing someone else's lunch every day? What kind of a workplace is that? I go with the laxative, let the scumbags enjoy the meal first and then they'll finally pay for the stolen lunch, lol.

It is the first time I hear people are stealing each others lunch. If people already are doing that it makes me wonder what more they steal and take out of your napsack/bags or pockets. I also do find it bad management if the boss is allowing it (or is he stealing the lunch). How about some dogshit between a piece of bread? Or some (blue) paint inside. Let your friend do whatever is needed to find that thief otherwise this will never stop and even get worser.

I think Exlax served up in something chocolate, and then maybe some other stuff in the other items. If they steal his beverages, load it up with vinegar, taste bad but will not kill them or poison them. Add some plastic between the meat and cheese in the sandwich. Then have him leave his good lunch in the car.

I say go with double the laxative dose one normally gives. It takes a while for those things to kick in. It serves whoever is doing it, right.

My grandpa used to have Feenamint gum laying around. I was old enough to know it was a "laxative" but I guess I did not comprehend how it worked, and I was young enough to want something sweet. I chewed two of them. My grand parents only had an outhouse, and I got stomach cramps so bad it was not even funny. All afternoon.

This is so rotten... lol! It seems to happen every place people work though, simply because someone is too lazy or cheap to pack and bring their own lunch. There are also the matters of coworkers who mooch and always ask for a dollar or two because they never have enough - and then they don't pay you back. First, he could keep his napsack with him at all times, or if he has a cubicle or something with a cabinet, he could store it in there maybe? I think I would do the laxative one, at least for pudding. If you really wanted to get people back, you could put chocolate laxative in brownines.... and put a container of those brownies in the napsack with the lunch..

It is really an interesting stealing. Are there many number of staff in your office/firm? or you have no secure place to store lunch boxes? In my college also our friends can steal another friend's lunch boxes and eats that, but is in a friendly way. And we never become serious on them, then who ever eats that box, they have to give a treat in the college canteen.

How can people be so dishonest, that even lunch in one's backpack could be stolen. And the boss doesn't make an investigation with regards to it. If that is what it will take to be able to catch the thief , then that should be done. What is important if to be able to catch who really steals your friend's lunch and be fired from that company because that is blatant dishonesty!

So, how did your friend manage his lunch, when it was stolen? It's really disgusting that there are people like that, stealing food of somebody.

I think another aspect to look into besides stealing and eating his lunch is the bullying aspect here, like what you said he is new, old comrades in a work place would sometimes want to do some kind of initiation thing or gang upon or maybe he is somebody they saw they can peck on ( just another idea on the situation) Why not put some kind of dye or coloring material that would be hard to wash off or rub out once they hold the pack? Small spy cameras disguised as pens or lighters are also quite cheap right now so maybe he would consider using one if he's really determined to catch the culprit, a small thing like this could become real serious sometimes you know so better to have some kind of evidence.

LOL! All the places I have worked are primarily American employees and people there stole things too. Not so often lunches but COFFEE CUPS! I used to get so angry when someone would steal my coffee cup and use it and I'd find it in another sink on a different floor - DIRTY. Hello, rude!! A friend of mine put up a Dear John letter on the fridge in our break area: Dear John, my lunch went missing yesterday. These are the items you must return to me promptly: 1 chicken salad sandwich from Starbucks 1 red apple, 3 slices of cheddar cheese 1 bag of lays potato chips. 1 iced mocha in a Starbucks cup. All these items were inside a brown STARBUCKS bag. I purchased these items this morning on my way in here and put the bag inside this fridge. In lieu of the items, you owe me $8.50.

It is a sad thing, and I do like the idea of quietly and calmly giving the thief a surprise. How about a dog food sandwich with laxative.

Pretty sad when someone has to stoop that low to steal a lunch. What else is this person stealing, I wonder? Tell your friend to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and mix a laxative with the jelly to disguise it. Might even melt the laxative. Maybe make and pack a few cookies too loaded with the laxative. Then put a small container of jello in the lunch and inject it with vodka. The thief will probably not be at work the following day.

That's really annoying! Why do people steal lunches in that work place? Don't they have their own lunches? Don't they have money to buy their own lunches? And not to mention they go in the trouble of ransacking your friend's knapsack! Man, they must be so desperate! Dish washing liquid and laxative are good. My first thought was lots of chili. Lots and lots of them so that when they eat the food, their mouth will burn. Good punishment for snatchers.

When he was in college. a small private school. Everyone knew how much he liked chocolate fudge. When he was given a pan of fudge, he greedily gobbled up the whole batch and spent the whole following day in the latrine. It was laced with a whole box of Ex-Lax laxative. That might also work with chocolate pudding.

What is that stuff that they have you take when you may have injested poison to make you throw up? I would fix me a lunch for the theif and another for myself. I'm a very vengeful person. I would hate to think what might happen to such jerks. lol I hope your friend finds out who did it.

It's so assinine that this person is doing this. I think the poison would be just the thing because at some point this person is going to have to go to the bathroom and get sick. Or some dye that would get on their lips. hehehe Can't he leave his lunch in his car or some place else?

Put lots of pepper but better idea that laxative instead of dishwashing liquid because it is poisonous that if swallowed may cause fatal effect. Just make sure to give lesson only and not kill a person.

Yes as they talk, they will keep on bubbling due to the dish washing liquid and at the same time run to the toilet because of the laxative
