Do you take your children trick or treating?

I used to take my children treat or treating every year, we would go to the neighborhood where I grew up and knew alot of the people who still lived there including several family members. I was familiar and so I felt safe and comfortable letting my kids treat or treat there, I would of course still check all the candy for evidence of being tampered with before they were allowed to eat it. This year we relocated out of state and I simply do not feel it is safe for them to go door to door soliciting candy from strangers. My children are of course disappointed at this new trick or treating ban, so I was wondering what is your take on the situation. Do you think it is safe for children to still be trick or treating in todays world or are there simply to many dangers to keep up with this custom? Let me know what you think.

If you just moved it's hard to say. You can generally tell how your area and the people are. And you can also check the candy and only allow them to eat the ones that you know for sure are sealed shut. In our area there are a lot of community centers and other places that offer an alternative to tricker treating. A lot of malls also do tricker treating from store to store. If you just look into it you can probably find a great safe fun alternative.

I really wanted to take my daughter this year for her first Halloween but her daddy had surgery so I had to stay home to take care of him instead of all three of us going out to take our daughter. But she is 9 month old so she won't remember it. If we ever moved I would still take my daughter out. When I was 16 and moved I still went out I just went with friends that I had made before Halloween. No matter where you live weather you know the people around you are not they are still strangers and someone can still hurt them but its about putting trust in your kids and in yourself that just for one night people won't be mean or hurt full. You can still have fun taking them out and seeing them dressed up and happy. I don't know any of my neighbors and that is what I like it to be me and my husband moved to where we live now almost 2 years ago before our daughter was even born.
