Hello,you guys!
Do you always engage in a job cencerns with your own subjects in your university which you majored in?I know, the majority don't just like me!
I majored in science and technology of computer ,but my first job is telephone maketing when I just graduated from my university, maybe I too needed money at that time so I chose my first job fast without much more consideration! Then about six months past,I went to another place and changed my job, that job was my current job as an assistant, not cencerning with my major neither!
And now,I would like to change my job ,but in my view I always don't like to engage in a job concerns with my major because I am not interested in that and I wanna engage in english work,so I have just learned english by myself for about four months in my free time!I hope to look for a translating work in the near future!^_^
I have a sister who majored in electrical information engineering but engaged in a job concerns with science and technology of computer which I majored in!Aha!It's very interesting!
Oh,does your work concern with your major?!
Have a good day and everything goes well!

I have been a writer for a long time now, and I have almost finished my college course majoring in Psychology. I know that I am going to keep my job when I graduate, so it's simply a question of whether I will be able to write about anything to do with Psychology when I am qualified to do so. I would like to think that I would keep the ideas alive that I learned during the course of my studies, and would also like to think that I would be able to pass on the information that I have learned to other people which will mean that they are able to benefit from the things that I have learned just as much I have during the course of my life so far.

Hello JulyKing! In a sense, this question is made for people like me who have lost connection with the major completely. LOL. Will narrate it in a bit, but first a few general thoughts.
I would call this the proverbial 'square pegs in round holes'! Due to a combination of factors, this happens with many people around the globe, I suppose. Working on something one majored in becomes a inevitable for many and because they may or may not like what they end up doing, it produces different outcomes. Not that all successful people in history did so with their specific major; why some of the greats consciously changed their course to prove successful in a completely divergent field. And even those who did not have full formal degree also became great. We have known instances of the chairman of a large financial institution being an engineer and the successful chairman of a big pharmaceutical company being a finance professional! The present generation of IT & systems graduates seem to be an exception though. There's enough potential for a focused career commensurate with their major.
Coming back to myself, I did my B. Tech in Textile Technology after I failed to make the required grade for a medical course. The B.Tech degree had huge job potential when I had completed and immediate placement from college was not an issue. But it was just for the initial three years only in the field of specialization. Thereafter, I had to yield to family circumstances and advice, which pushed me into government job on the perceived 'security of job' syndrome. I have trudged along but picking up a lot of skills on the job which is now far more rewarding and I feel accomplished. From textile technology to finance & project management to contract management, I have become proficient & successful.
In the end, I think it is attitude & aptitude that determine success & satisfaction.
Have a great time!

For me it is perfectly in line with my major. I have done a major in Computer Science and was playing a technology role till some five years back. Then did an additional major in Project Management. So now I do Project Management in the Computer Science industry. So if you see both my majors are combined in this role and I am enjoying doing it.
Cheers!

No, my current work has nothing to do with my major in college. I studied materials science and engineering at college, but I am doing foreign trade in electronic area now. I chose this job just because I liked learning languages and though it is interesting to deal with people from different cultures. Now I find I am really like travelling and photographing.

Lucky for me that I'm able to use my Degree with my current job. But I think is not about the degree you took from your university that concerns everyone, I think your passion must coincide with what you are doing right now. If your work makes you happy then I think that's okay, otherwise you should look for another job that makes you happy.
