I just wondering if the stock market is mainly control by a small group of rich people who has the power and wealth to raise and lower the stocks. It seems to me in the recent months, the stock price has a big fluctuation on every few days. Either a big jump, or either a deep low. I just don't see how this happen? Is it normal, or was it controlled by a group of wealthy people? If you keep your eyes on the stock market, you will see it will go up again in a few days, even though today hit a 300 points low.

Hi Swetashah, nobody controls the stock market. The world is reacting to the situation in Europe, China and US. You need to follow the international news, then you can see the correlation in the stock market and precious metal pricing. When something bad happens or some stupid politicians talk nonsense, the stock market dives.

These group of people would control the market by pressing the stock price down. There after the they would accumulate the stock. Until they have accumulate enough qty, they will push up the price... A lot of factors influence the fluctuations in the stock market. Some companies merge with other companies and if you invest in stocks and you know that that merger will grow, then you can invest in it. If there are a lot of investors (buyers) then there is movement and thus an increase(positive). But that isn't always a guarantee because sometimes they also lose. There are a lot of people who invest in the stock market and they are not necessarily rich, but are hoping to live comfortably in the near future.

I do have some stocks, not that much but they are for the long term so do not have any worry. I think it has something to do with the instability in Europe, especially Greece. I do think that a lot of people decide that when their stock goes low or the market goes bad that instead of keeping their stock in, they decide to sell. And that makes the stock go lower. It is perfectly normal and nothing to do with a few bad guys , als the movie "Trading Places" manipulating the stock prices.

Yes, I notice the fluctuations in the stock market these days. This is a very complex matter. The activities in the Eurozone probably has a very strong impact on the stock markets internationally. Everybody is watching on the developments in the Eurozone.

The stock market is controlled by the investors' emotions: fear and greed. They're either too greedy to hold onto a stock that's heading north or too fearful when their stocks are heading south. For one to profit in the stock market, always remember how Warren Buffett puts it - ". . . Be fearful when others are greedy. Be greedy when others are fearful."

The market is controlled by investors some big and some small. What happens is investors will gamble that the price of the stock will go up or down. IF it goes up they make money. IF the stock goes down they lose money. What they try to do is sell before the stock drops and buy when it is low. The more people who do this will cause the price of stock to go down thus the up and down of the market.

Corporates financial performance is one of the factors that influences the up and down of stock price in capital market. One of corporates financial performance measure is shown in the form of financial ratios. These financial ratios are used by investor as their investment decision-making. I make some research about it and the result indicated that partially only EPS influences the stock price significantly. The simultaneously test of CDC, OCPS, ROE, ROA, TATO and EPS, give a significant influence of stock price.
