Gout pain is caused by buildup of uric acid around joints. Can be really very painful when it happens. It is said that eating fresh fruits and vegetables is good for preventing gout. Please share your experience. Any other suggestion for preventing gout ?

hello...the main reason why you have the gout because your uric acid level is high.As a nurse, I can share to you how to prevent more production of uric acid which results to gout. First, there is diet modification. You have to limit poultry, legumes, liver and organ meats. Beans are high in purine which also increases uric acid level.Avoid canned foods too. Increase fluid intake 6-8 glasses per day. Second, Taking of medications as ordered by your doctor. These medications could be sodium salicylate and corticosteriods. The acute phase is managed with colchicine or endomethacin. In the chronic stage, probenecid which inhibits excretion of uric acid. Then allopurinol to inhibit production of uric acid. I hope these can help you. :-)

Thank you so much for the information and advice. Yes, indeed, this is very helpful. I have been taking allopurinol for quite some time now, and when I get the gout attack, I take colchicine. Yes, they certainly do work quite well.

i used to suffer pain from gout and the doctor gave me some medications and told me to stop eating beans and peas for the meantime. do you have gout? i think you need to see the doctor so he can tell you what to do and what not to eat. mine is okay years ago and i always make general check ups every year. need to make sure i am well in order to work for my family. prevention is better than cure. take care.

Beans and peas ! I should also stop eating beans and peas then. I was a a bit sensitive to noodles. I don't know for sure if noodles cause gout. But, a couple of times, after I eat noodles at a restuarant, I get aches in the joints. So I have been staying away from eating noodles these days.

yes noodles and pasta can produce acid formation inside your tummy that can cause gout. i guess you really need to get a doctors advice on regarding what to eat and what not to eat. do you eat oats? that is good for you and yogurt as well. i know water melon is not good for a person with gout for water melon has uric acid. stay safe be healthy.

Hello Pam. You are very fortunate you don't have this problem. It is really very painful, unlike any other pain. Well, in any case, it is wise to stay away from eating things that can cause gout. Thank you.

I'm not sure if I really suffer from gout but I do call this a sort of gout pain.
I try and keep a natural diet, fresh fruit, veg and try not to eat what I call call rubbish food. If I do suddenly eat what I call rubbish food it plays my system up something real bad and boy do I suffer with bad pain, cramps in my leg and just feel really ughy. Its because my body is so unuse to all this food and it can't cope with the intake of rubbish food, takes me a good day or so to get my body round again to how I like it.... but I never learn.
I do really feel for people who do get proper gout as I know it can be really painful.

Hello Anne. Yes, gout is really very painful. Very good that you like eating fresh fruits and vegetables. The food that you call rubbish food probably has so many different things that can cause gout. Good to stay away from rubbish food.
Thank you.

For high uric acid, one can try this----- Just mix green papaya cubes to the ordinary green tea, sip after 15 minutes.
After a week of drinking this formula there is significant improvement.
Ripe papaya and green papaya have wonderful medicinal properties.
