We own a gas oven which is kinda okie...
the only down side with gas ovens are that they take longer time to bake or roast stuffs. and they get hot spots due to blockage of the hot air when baking in large quantity.
Sometimes i even have to extended the time the recipe calls for the baked goods to be done because of the slowness of the gas oven. I totally preheat my oven in the proper gasmark.
I have heard electric oven with convection mode is much more better in baking stuffs because of the convection it forces the air to circulate around the baked stuff, and you can bake in large quantity without worrying for hot spot.
which one do you own ?
and what can you say about it?

before we have a small electric oven w/o the convection mode. I swear it bakes faster than our larger gas oven now...Thanks for the suggestion anyways =)

I have always cooked/baked with a gas stove/oven. Except when my Aunt gave me a electric stove. I did not notice any difference in the baking or cooking times. All I know is I prefer a gas stove/oven. This is what I am use to. Also gas heats instantly as where the electric you have to wait for it to warm up. For me it took longer than a gas stove did.

What is good with gas oven is that the heat is not dry since it uses flame so steam is a result from the combustion so the bakedgood tends to stay moist. The electric ovens heat is dry thats why it takes lesser time to bake.

I have a gas oven but I'm planning to buy a bigger one for I also sell cakes and baked products. Having a gas oven consumes less expenses compared to electric oven but electric oven is easier to use especially for beginners. Electric ovens have good temperature control unlike gas ovens which don't have good temperature controls. Anyway, you can just buy oven thermometer or gas ovens.

I would prefer a convection electric oven, because it is definitely faster and cleaner. But if you were to buy a electric convection oven, make sure it come together with circular fan in it, or else when you bake something, there might be some part cooked faster than some part of your tray. I have a convention electric oven, it is a cheaper type of electric oven, whenever I bake something, let say cookies. I have to turn the tray from time to time to make sure the heat to my cookies is consistent, or else I might get some cooked cookies and half cooked cookies.

thanks for the advice your post will surely inform readers about what to watch out when buying electric convection ovens.
Convection ovens are not always better or good since it blows air and some baked goods are really delicate to use the convection mode if your oven has a convection switch examples would be genouise batter, thin or spoon batters, souffle, and other delicate pastries.

i can use either type of oven. What we have is the electric convection oven which for me is a good kind. It has been with us for around 12 years already and it's still working superbly. It cooks faster and the quality of cooking is enhanced .Like roasted chicken, it is cooked through and through with its proper consistency. We seldom use this for cakes.

ohh... you might need a thermometer for checking if your oven has the right temperature all ovens have different tweaks on them some oven might need just 5 minutes of preheating while other needs 15 minutes to properly reach the right temperature. Cakes are usually baked 150C/300F ~ 180C/350F.

I have a small gas oven at home which works fine for my needs as I don't bake much, but AFAIK,the convection type would be electric..I'd agree with you on those being better for faster, more even baking.

I have a big gas oven which I seldom use and a small electric oven without convection. I love my electric oven because I don´t have to bend down to use it and don´t feel guilty when using it for something small. Except when I roast a turkey (which I don´t anymore), I think that, on the whole, the electric oven is more economic than the other. As in everything, we have to get used at the temperatures and times we need for each food. I have found out that I prefer more time and less temperature than what recipes say.

True, sometimes time in a recipe is just a suggest and we really have to trust or sense of sight and smell to judge if the baked good is done.
Thanks for your response =)

haha... true if your not careful. i remember one of my classmate in our laboratory session made a mistake by switching the oven first then lighting it up using the oven lighter, next thing we know we saw a large flame came from the oven.good thing nobody is hurt except for few burnt hairs ahahaha!
This rarely happens to me cause I always bake and before I turn the oven switch I point the oven lighter to the oven burner...so no explosion would happen.
