I've been postponing my life - when will I start living it?

Hi. When I was in school in the final years I flunked hard. I had to leave the school. I was so embarrassed that I cut down contacts with all the VERY BEST friends I had made. I thought when I will clear school with flying colors and get in a good college I will meet them back and start enjoying my life.
Now that did not happen. I tried for two years to get into a good college but I still failed. Now I have postponed the enjoying part to when I will get a good job.
What if I fail again? What if I end up alone and get crazy?

My father always forced us kids to be the best in everything. He could really get mad if we were not or we were not that interested.
As my parents divorced this was the thing I kept in mind. Being the best so my dad can be proud at me.
Years later we met again and he said: there are way more important things as begin the best (best grades, best job etc) which is being a good human being.
So now I like to give this message to you. You can learn what ever you want, you can have so many diploms and the greates best paying job there is but this won't make you happy in the end. Why? Because everything will end sooner or later and nobody will miss you. You will be replaced.
Life is about living, about getting all the experiences there are (good, bad, sad, happy, etc), about improving and educating yourself (school/education says nothing if it comes to real life). Knowing who you are, what you are capable at.
You will only end up alone and crazy if you forget about yourself. If you keep thinking that only others and a great job can make you succesful.
Skip that. Educations, job, good looks etc these are just some extra's but it is not what makes you succesful in the end or happy.
Decide to get happy from now on and to live life from now and to enjoy from now on then you will see you succeed. Since happiness, joy and luck you can find everywhere and in everyting.

Hi thanks a lot. I understand it wholly. But now I've become really weak on the emotional and mental part. I no longer have the strength to even convince myself to start living again and get over what happened. It is not that I AM MEANT TO FAIL!!!
It is just because of the circumstances. Now in my head success is the only thing that can get me back in life. Thanks for the amazing answer.

I guess I'm confused. If you can't get into what you define as a *good* college, why not try a state college? Any college that can further your education is a GOOD college. I don't know about other countries but the United States military will educate you and help to pay for school when you're done.
As for enjoying life... Life is what you make it and what you want to get out of it. I suggest you contact your friends. I'll be that some of them didn't turn out as successful as you think they did and may very well be in the same boat that you're in. Or they may even be able to help provide you with contacts for the job market.
In any event, if they're your friends, the truly care about you and what happens to you. Don't get yourself in a downward spiral that you can't get yourself out of.
I'm a single mom and every day is a struggle but failure is not an option. You have to wake up every day thinking ... THIS is the day my dreams come true. Nothing is easy. If you can't just leap into your dream, then get there with baby steps. At least you're heading in the right direction.

The most important thing that you can do in this situation is to remember that you should never give up. You shouldn't give up on the things that are important to you, because at the end of the day you only live once and it's really important that you make the most of the chances that you're given in your life. Don't worry if you don't succeed; the most important thing is that you'll know that you tried, and you will always be able to remember that. There's nothing worse than getting towards the end of your life and having to live with regrets because you didn't do everything that you wanted to do.

Why not try to discover your passion and interest.
Why waste your time with college when you always failed?
Not all rich and famous are educated and professionals.
You can always achieve something when you know what you really want.
Don't keep trying in college...try other things which you know could lead to another way of success.
