My 10 year old Grand-Daughter wants the limited edition, Barbie Doll. This Barbie has pastel pink hair, punk style clothing and tattoos! Do ya think this is appropriate for a 10 year old? Is this 'trendy' or 'tasteless'?

no i dont. actually, it makes me sad that they would even make a Barbie like this because when i was young, Barbie and Ken and their careers were something that little girls could aspire to (such as nurse Barbie, Airline Stewardess Barbie, you get the picture) but punk Barbie? really? is that something we want our little girls to turn into?

It sorta depends on the gender, but I find this tasteless. I belive your daughter should get something that she can't look up to as a bad role model. Just get a Care Bear, or take her to the "Build A Bear" workshop where she can have something that she would want to carry around her, instead of a "tasteless" doll.

My "Grand-Daughter" wants one. I think I'm gonna pass on this particular Barbie. She has plenty of others along with the Build A Bears. I'll just get her a Barbie Jeep, in hopes she forgets about this tasteless Barbie..lol....Thnx for the input!

Barbies used to be so much fun. But if you think the pink hair is not appropriate...you should have been around last year...at this time. Tattoo Barbie (yes, you read that right) was the hot toy! IT came with rub on tattoos for the Barbie...you could put them anywhere you wanted to and they eventually would wash off. Talk about inappropriate! Whatever happened to Airline Barbie and Dentist Barbie and Baker Barbie etc! I remember for my daughter I got her Barbie and the Rockers...just barbies...different colored hair and they played different instruments. To me that was "out there" but to her..it was the best. I got them as just cause I didn't like them, didn't mean she shouldn't have them. Basically there was nothing wrong with them..one had red hair, one had blonde and one had blonde with color streaks. They were okay, just not from my era. But Tattoo Barbie..no, that one is not appropriate. If it was just the pink hair, I wouldnt worry about it and get it for her...with the tattoos...get her something else!

Personally no I don't think these dolls are appropriate. you are becoming to pay attention to dress, and detail at 10 and on in age, and if we are giving this type of doll to them then aren't we saying its ok for them to dress this way and get tattoos? personally I no longer give dolls out I try to turn children on to Webkinz. Its a wonderful onsite safe place for children of all ages. I started with Webkinz when they first started. I bought one first and played with it online to get the hang of it. These wonderful plush animals that come to life on a virtual site can actually teach children so much. I try to give a webkinz to any child I know that has access to a computer. teaches them to cook, grow a garden, pick out clothes to dress your webkinz, play games, a learning site, and plenty of ways to make your room personal by getting wallpaper and flooring etc to make every room you build in Webkinz your own. you cannot chat with others so no fear of predators etc. Only us adults can change the way our children think and act and what they want to play with. Grab a webkinz and watch them learn and build!

I agree, they are very inappropriate. I have heard of "Webkinz".....had no clue what they did, until now. My sister bought them for her daughters. I had no clue they were affiliated with the internet. They sound so cool. I may have to look into them. Thanks for the info!
