Another virus warning.

Heads up people... My bro-in-law in Sydney sent me this warning, about a "Facebook/Utube" virus. I checked it. So should you http://www.snopes.com/computer/virus/youtube.asp I know many of my friends are on FB.

A great big "thank you" for sharing, my dear Ms. Tickle! Due to very serious warning from my son (roles reversed here) I do very little on FB, as he says it is one of the most insecure, infested sites available! He suggests that I only use as contact/message relaying...but GO NOWHERE near any of the games or interaction opportunities! I have abided (LOL!) as for one; he gave me this computer for Xmas...as up 'til 5 years ago, I did not have any experience in the cyber world...and like most of the young people today, he has grown up with computers...and I think he knows of what he speaks. At least, it's good enough for me..ha! ha! So VERY nice to see you back, have missed you...and what a time for you to be active again...with all the glitches! BIG HUGZ!

Hi pergy, happy I am to run into you again dear one. I fail to understand though why people think I have been away as I'm always here. I do spend lots of time reading discussions and I find I cannot relate or most responders have already replied with what I wanted to say so I move on. Yes, the glitches are annoying, I'm not getting notifications of my responders here and that's unusual. Bless you for the always needed hugz and back atch 10 fold.

Hi dear pergammano Personally I 100% believe in what your son says about the security - I do keep reading about the private data of employees, people being hacked out from Fb but still millions use it... and I to now am forced to be on that Fb for a while But I have kept my personal info as low as I could... Hope we do not get into all that

I agree. My friends and family are pretty active on FB. I have been more active lately and I do like to play one of their games.

Hi there abbey, long time, no see. Posting the link on your page is a good idea, I don't use Fb enough to think of doing that. I emailed my girls and grandchildren but have not heard back from them. I hope they are all safe.

The virus originated in 2008 I believe and it's true the last update was in April 2010 but the important thing to note is that koobface is still active.

Yeah, not been here for a while, been overseas recently for a month, visiting family and friends in the UK. Just got back last month. After I posted this link on my FB page, someone pointed out to me that this entry in Snopes is dated 2010.

i read the link but dont quite understand. anyway, i seldom go on fb any more because ive suspected fb many times of a virus.

Yes, it seems Fb is really good for all sorts of threats. Basically, what it is, if a friend of yours sends you a message to watch a Youtube video, delete the message. If you open the message, it is a trojan. Just delete anything from Fb ... that's what i'm going to do.

Did you find the link? I didn't give any more info because I think people need to be encouraged to check these links for themselves. This one is nasty and I fear there will be many affected and they in turn will infect others via emails etc. Fingers crossed.

Dear MsTickle Thanks for the link and the warning dear MsTickle. You see, I found this link quite much helpful as I have just started out with Fb. Actually kind of forced into that world because of my cousin who has got most of our relatives on his Fb account. I am still finding it a little awkward and this link and the warning does caution me...

Hello my friend, nice to see you. I too find Fb very awkward and I avoid it as much as I can. Try and alert your friends to this threat because I think if someone becomes infected it can be passed on via email.

I did see this warning. Thanks for posting it here. I don't visit Facebook very often since I find it to be confusing. My kids know how to do everything on the site and then there is me! lol

Personally I can't see spending loads of time on FB. I never post anything about where I am going, etc. Why target our house to be available for friendly people to break in and take what they want! Have a good weekend, carolbee

Yes, that's just how I am. I was feeling quite intimidated by my lack of understanding and then I found out my very bright, daughter is also confused. She is quite technologically savvy so now I feel ok about not participating on Fb in a big way.
