I am a couch potato...

I know that I have a bad habit and it is not productive. However, I feel so relax just sitting in front of the television. Most of the time, right after work, I would go home late and prepare my food then sit in front of the tv and watch until I drop-off to sleep.
I want to stop this bad habit of mine and instead focus on the work I can do in the internet. Can you advise how I can do this?

I like the TV too, when I have nothing to do or I feel a little tired after school, I simply grab a few peanuts and sit down on the coach and start watching the TV while munching away on peanuts. I only watch the programs that I want to watch and once it's over I simply turn the TV off and then do my homework or do whatever I need to do. So do you have TV programs which are on your must watch list? If there isn't any, then why watch some boring news when you can be on the internet on mylot? But if you do have shows that needs to be watched, watch them or tape them, you could always watch them online while on mylot. I don't know how that works but you can make it work. Maybe incorporate some daily exercise to. I have a daily routine and I stick to it each day.

Hi Triple0.
I'm glad to be here in Mylot. People here are so kind that they make me feel good about myself. Thank you for being helpful. I appreciate your advises and I learn from it too.
I'm kinda perfectionist. But I know I'm not perfect. And I tend be too hard on myself. But when I'm here in mylot, I meet people who help me understand myself and help me improve myself.
Thanks and stay cool!

it's not entirely not being productive, you are at work the whole day and being able to enjoy watching television while eating your own food is a privilege. however, if you can make the most of your spare time or do multitasking while in front of the tv that would be cool too. gradually, you'll get used to it and it will now be a routine of yours.

Hi su3shi.
I tried doing that. Actually, while writing in mylot or commenting here, I get to watch the tv. I do the typing during the commercials. However, if I really would want to focus, then I have to learn how to turn-off the television.
Thanks for your kind advice. Have a nice day!

dont worry, you nd me time to relax before tv, otherwise it will be all work and no play. if you want to wok, then try to prepare meals in morning, refrigerate it and heat it when you come home and save time for working in internet

Thanks for that advise. It would only give me more time to sit in front of the tv. LOL.
Sometimes, I try to say to myself that I would just eat my dinner in front of the tv and then I would do the activities that I planned to do in the morning. However, when I am already in front of tv and I saw a very good movie, I tend to forget my good intentions. I guess I don't have a strong will.
Thanks again. Have a great day!

I am also a couch potato, however, not in front of the TV but in front the laptop. I am addicted to the Internet. When I get home, I eat dinner, after that I would bring out my laptop and sit in front of it the whole night until I feel sleepy. Most of my activities online aren't even productive. I would just play games. I've tried changing my habits, by setting up a goal for my blogs. I'm on the process of polishing my blogs now and am happy about it. It's hard to break off the habit, but if there's willpower, you could achieve it. Try turning off the TV first for a change. As soon as you get used to having no TV in the background, it becomes easier for you to do other things. Good luck.

Thanks seriousnuts.
You are right. I have to develop my willpower. Wish me luck. I try tonight to focus on working for my blog and would not open the tv for a change.
Have a nice day!!!

Thanks almond24. Problem is when I am already in front of the tv, I doze off to sleep and at around 2 a.m. I wake up and see that the tv is still on. Really bad habit.... As a result, I prepare late for proper sleeping and woke up at 7:00 a.m. And that is very late already for me to reach the office on time.
Haizzz... I really have to bring my acts together.
Thanks for commenting.
