here we go again. peace talk, truce, cease fire, negotiating table, agreement, well i've heard enough from this. right now the government and MILF is in kuala lumpur for another peace accord. will this work this time? so much lives were lost in this part of the Philippines but the problem still there and getting more worse than ever before. the Government should realize that this people were not going to have peace because they are not for peace, what they are asking is sovereignty and a separate state which is against the constitution of the Philippine government. if ever this peace talk prosper this will not in anyway be the best solution nor resolve the conflict and bring peace in mindanao but this peace talk would paved a better way for this people to have power or strengthen their forces for their intimate purpose. eventually even this peace talk should be finalized, then other group will shore up, break away group who will not submit themselves to their leaders and will again spread chaos and disorderliness in that area. it's the same story and the same set up and strategy till the government submit to their rue demand. i don't think this peace talk is only a craft..how about you?

I am not sure if talking will still work to them. This talking has been done many times before, but they seen to always do something to violate the things they president and they talked about.I guess it's time to eliminate them all because they no more do good. They no more respect the lives of other people. They killed too many armies in the last encounter.

how do they ask and demand for respect while themselves doesn't know the meaning of respect for others including the regards of life.. they kill and decapitate those soldiers who were held captive while the government seems to undermine this inhumane act..are we all blind?

No way. No talk will be a solution for that.
Look around you in the world, in history.
As long as different believes are interfered, people are raised the way they are better as others no talk, no debate, no willing leader can change that.
Attitude has to change first and this will probably take ages if it will happen at all.

unless the talk is about submitting to their demand. yes attitude changes for a period of 25 years but the question is will it get better or gone wore worse?

hi a rnolddream if you have militant moslems you will not see peace until they are wiped out of Mindnao and you then will have all the Phillipines in peace. I know the cruelty and horror of their teachings having seen what they did in my country wiping o ut the two world trade center buildings and thousands of innocent Americans. .this will haunt me forever. down with the Muslim Mindanao and up with your country the Philippines.

looks like we have the same perspective on this issue my friend.. but our government will not do it for sure, maybe they're using these rebels for unknown reasons, heard the news lately that Pnoy gave them 5 million pesos donation? are we fighting them or feeding them?

It is not going to work for Phillippine, because those Islamic militants in Mindanao are not sincere peace makers. They are employing a delay tactic trying to put a full offensive assault carry out by government forces on hold indefinitely, through manipulating the peace negotiation, they continue to create trouble in the southern province to expand their Islamic agenda hoping to break away Mindanao province to form an Islamic state. Innocent villangers continue to face threats; getting rob and kill in their home, while the peace negotiation had been going on for more than a decade but fighting continue after the militants got their rest and fire arms resupply from neighboring muslim government. It is time for an all out government assault to wipe them out of Phillippine without anymore delay. The longer it drag on, the harder for Phillippine to get rid of these terrorists from their land.

that is the dark side about this issue, knowing that these people are not serious enough or sincere in the quest for peace, then why do the government is playing like a great samaritan for this rebel group? what you have said is true and this truce thing is just a delaying tactics and a calming strategy to pacify the intensive assault the arm forces is doing right now. for me i think the government should make a firm stand on this issue, no matter what the cost.

The officials probably are buying into their lies, and know nothing about the history of islamist terrorism on states that refuse to accept their perverted political goal, thinking that these militants are sincere peace brokers. Unfortunately, these Islamists never want peace in Phillippine at all, unless their demand is met by Phillippine governemt by letting Mindanoa break away from Phillippine control. Tell you the truth, my friend, Phillippine is not the only country facing these islamists threat inside their territory, the same political demand also happen in Russia, China, Thailand, India, Isreal and etc...

of course there are some political involvements in this issue and it is undeniably real. and yes, peace talks are not the solution. however, at least it will lessen the number of casualties when war is present. war is not the answer also, definitely not. for as long as our government is trying to avoid war against rebels, I'm okay with that. what I'm concerned at is that no lives must be wasted because of war.

There's no other solution to find peace in Mindanao except peace talks. it's either that or an all put war wiping every muslim insurgent in that part of the Philippines and that means killing all muslims there which is tantamount to genocide. For me the insurgency is not just about territory but it's about religion. There's just no way those muslims will allow themselves to be governed by christians. right now, a male muslim can always marry a christian and no one will object to it, but a male christian can't marry a muslim woman unless you risk your life for it. clan wars are very common in that area and the only way those clans make peace is to marry a member of each family to unite the two clans. Right now, the muslims are all united against the christians. To them, if you're a christian, you are an outsider and that works the other way around. So unless every one puts away their religious affiliations theres always that gap between the two groups. That's the main reason why peace in Mindanao is so elusive, it's because of religion.

Hi arnold,
Just look at the whole place where they want to govern: mansions amid the squalor and poverty of those around, poverty and more poverty.
I would not elaborate what would it be like if there have been no people like them there.

it's all the same politics, if given the chance to govern they will do much worse than we are seeing right now on today's politics in their place.
