Hey friends!
I decided to check my personal mail today and was surprised with how my friend was chatting with me. First of all I noticed he is chatting with me in English, 'though usually he chats using our own language. He lives in a different province far from where I'm residing and I don't know his mobile number here so I couldn't ask him about this.
This supposed friend of mine pops a message to say hello! And when I replied he suddenly asked if I heard about Steve Jobs. When I said yes, he then continues with his message saying that Apple is giving away 5000 Mac books in honor of Steve Jobs. and gave me a link to where he signed up asking me to sign up there too.
He can't fool me and I am not so greedy to click that link just for a Mac book I won't let them hack me! So beware of this, friends. Have you encountered this hacker lately?

Hahaha yeah, why would one believe some stranger? That is the reason why they hacked someone else's account so they can pretend we know them. I experienced chatting with someone who's really good in pretending that they are my friend. At that time we don't know her account was hacked. She really speaks and put words the way my friend does. I only got a doubt when she started talking about a business and asking me spend a money for the time being and she will pay me later. She was my roommate at that time so if she really wants to propose a business partnership with me, she could have tell me personally or she could give me a call anytime So that's the part where it became obvious I was chatting with a hacker.

Nope she is not my REAL friend, the person I was talking with was the hacker itself. I don't know that the one using my friend's YM is the hacker - because that person has hacked that account with our (me and my real friend) knowledge.
So I was chatting with that person (the hacker) thinking that she is my real friend because she is using the same ym id of my real friend.

Some of my friends email account was hacked as well. I even chat with one of them who was asking for a business proposal - I am sure you heard about this before, cellphone loading business - asking me to buy where prepaid cards and give her the pin numbers and then she will send the payment later.
Good thing was that I always know how my friends chat and how they type their words, maybe that's why I don't easily fall in to those scams.

You are very smart and wise to not fall for it because Apple won't just give away 500 Mac computers just due to the fact that those aren't cheap. If it's too good to be true it probably is.

Yes that sounds too good to be true. Who will give away that much Mac computers? Well some companies can give computers, iPhones as a prize - but 500 units sounds untrue

That information will be very useful since if we might find our friends also acts like that and give some unknown link we might also avoid being hacked. Lots of people always use other people to fool others and might trap them with what they want.
Lets just always search and have some precautions when we receive unknown emails that says we win, get some rewards, and to register to an unknown links. I always block or report those person who does that kind of stuff on the internet especially on Facebook and Mails. We can also make this internet environment away from those kinds of person by reporting to the admin/authority. =)

Definitely, how can one win on some promo if you never joined anything. Although this one is asking me to join, I have never heard of such news - it would be all over the news if Apple is really giving away. Surely the promo might have ended before I knew about it

Hi!
I have not encountered this modus operandi but I have encountered similar cases and I don't really give a second thought to it. I immediately ignore it because it's just too good to be true. I'm too suspicious of things like these that I encounter in the net. Better be careful (or in this case, suspicious) than sorry.

Yes, I have a similar experience when my sister-in-law's email was hacked at Vienna where he has been now on an educational tour and money was asked by using the same old story of loss of passport and credit card. But fortunately, the hacker could not cheat us as because we immediately sent an reply email with the request to answer some easy to answer questions such as nick name of my other sisters and brothers, names of my parents etc for proof of identity which are well known to my sister-in-law but definitely not known to the hacker. And more interestingly, we used our mother tongue but the letters used were in English. So all these were Greek to the hacker who, as you can easily understand, could not answer and so were confirmed that my sister-in-law's email was hacked. Fortunately, later on we could communicate with him over the telephone.

Good thing you have thought of something to verify whom you were dealing with. Some people easily gives in because they're worried sick that the family member or friend is in deep trouble, especially if she/he's outside the country.

I haven't encountered this hacker yet.I should be more careful now.I should check first if they are really giving away free macs.
The desire to have some might take everything from me so I should be so greedy now.:)

Yes what we need to do is check it first to verify whether it's real or not. Being so greedy sometimes doesn't do us good

you are so smart that you have chosen the right way to deal with it. actually, nowadays we often find it easy to be cheated through the Internet, so everyone should pay close attention to what you have seen or heard on it. however, I am lucky and still lucky due to my highly concern of what comes to me. have a nice day and take care.

Hi conquer!
I agree with you people can easily be cheated now, we can't blame someone being enticed with good prizes and big amounts especially those we rarely get or hear scams like this. You too have a nice day and take care
