Yes, I have lights finally. Holiday lights that is. You see, I usually have them up by Halloween as I hate putting them up in the cold. But I had windows installed so I had to leave room for the contractors to work. Plus it's been unseasonably warm for Minnesota too. No snow yet and not very cold either. So I got most the lights done today. This photo shows my garage. The lights are placed under the trim so I need no clips etc for them. They look so neat and straight. Do you have any set ways to do your lights? Any set date you start decorating etc?

I do not have any set ways that I do anything. We had a dusting of snow here earlier this week so I guess we beat you. It is a good idea if you are doing outdoor lights to do it while the weather is still nice.

hi Grandpa Bob oh they look great, neat and really great. good job
there. we will have our tree up here in G old crest arond Thanksgiving time.they do decorate the vistors lounge and the activities room piles of phony presents, do they think we are
so dumb we do not recoginze phony when we see it? I would love it if they put some lights outside on our building but they pinch too many pennies the three owners and wear really expensive clothes themselfes. shame on them.we used to put up lights and leave them up all year when we had our last apartment. Imiss that p art of Christmas with the tree and all.

Hatley, can you have lights in your room? I remember when I moved as a newly wed to San Diego in October. The young people in the church youth group kept talking about the "cold weather" at forty something. I had just come from winter temperatures that would drop down to below freezing. I thought it was warm for winter there.

Somehow mine winds up a little different every year. If mine were up outside, though, I'd have them on! We have had two good snows so far and the possibility of another one tomorrow night. Christmas lights are so pretty in the snow.
I usually start Christmas decorating the day after Thanksgiving. While others are chasing down Black Friday deals, I'm chasing down a burned out bulb!

Wow. Before Halloween? That seems kind of early but I love the Christmas season so that is cool. I have an apartment now so I do not get to decorate much but I love to take my kids to look at lights. I usually do my tree and the few decorations I do put up the first week of December. I did get to take my daughters to have breakfast with Santa today though so now the holiday spirit has begun to flow. Happy Holidays!

I do it that early to avoid trying to put them up in snow and cold.
I drive my 4 grandkids around looking at elaborate displays as well.

Your garage lights look really great and as I said in my comment to your photo, I am a little bit jealous! I can't really have lights outside, my husband is disabled and although he does his best(He just worked really hard and put my new greenhouse up, it took him nearly 2 weeks, but he got there in the end, bless him) I don't really expect him to go up stepladders, and I am a bit of a wuss, I can't stand heights! but I make up with it with lots of indoor lights. We usually have 3 or 4 sets at the upstairs windows, 2 or 3 sets at the downstairs windows and one in the hallway and 3 or 4 sets in the living room. Thats without all the other decorations, i have been trying to download some pictures, but will have to put them on my photo page. I would like to put my decorations up now, but perhaps, over here in GB , it seems a little early, although a house in the main road, put their lights up on 2nd november.I dont like to leave putting up the decorations up too near christmas as I enjoy seeing them up and it is a little sad when they have to be all taken down and packed away for another year.

How soon? HAH!
I recall having it in May years ago up north.
Here in my area we have gotten snow in Sept.
We had a few inches on the ground by mid October last year.
But our average day for snow chances is Sept 15.

Great job! I haven't put up lights for the last 3 years, it's just too much for me and getting up on a ladder is no longer easy--in fact, I get a bit dizzy. So I light up my windows inside and that looks nice. I can't believe how straight your lights are!
And oh my, I looked at your avatar and is that really the granddaughter that was a little baby what seems like just yesterday?! They grow SO FAST!!

Here's a photo of her in one of her tiaras and sashs she's won in pageants this year. She's going to the MN State finals for one company this coming February also. She loves getting all dressed up for her pageants.

Christmas is surely in the air! I like to see glittering lights such as that! Indeed they are neat and straight! Very nice!
At home I started decorating as early as October but even before December comes I've done lots of re-arrangements and additions so as to keep the Christmas ambiance always new and exciting. Actually my Christmas Tree undertook 3 re-arrangements since I set it up October.

Those lights do look pretty neat. No, I don't have any holiday lights set up around my home. I do see some of my neighbors putting up the lights on their homes. There are some homes that just leave their holiday lights up all year long and don't even bother taking them down. Haha. I guess that just saves them time.

This post is a month old, but I guess it's still relevant as it isn't Christmas yet. Halloween would have been a good time to put up lights, but I've decided to delay (and delay) mine. In fact, it was just last night when I finally put the last of mine. I've been doing it in sections so as not to be too tiring.
Merry Christmas Grandpa Bob!

We usually just place the Christmas lights on our Christmas tree. We usually start decorating around mid November. Maybe by next week, we will start it already. Happy holidays to you.

Hopefully the weather will hold for another week. I have a holiday craft show next weekend at the mall so I have been getting ready for it. I usually don't do alot of lights but have a wreath that lights up. I also am getting a snowman lantern that is a solar light. Can't wait to put that up too.

My daughter does most of the decorating these days, but I'm still hoping to get lights on the porch. The clips are there from the owner, but we didn't get any put up last year. Plus I have a couple of lighted deers I'd love to put out there if I could be sure someone wouldn't come along and walk off with them. Don't yet know what's going to happen. We put the tree away still decorated, so all we have to do is bring it up from the basement. But, since my daughter will be going to UTah for Christmas, there might not be much decorating around here at all. Dang! I just remembered that.
