Remember Archie Comics?

As I've shared before, the main reason why I started to love reading is through Archie Comics. My dad is a huge fan of comic books but since he's a bit old fashioned, he thought that his type on comics (Marvel) won't fit for me so he bought me Archie Comics instead. And I love it.
Archie, Betty, Veronica, Jughead (my favorite), Reggie and the rest of the gang had been my favorite read for a long, long time. I only stopped reading when my dad stopped buying them (around the time he noticed that I started reading RL Stine and Goosebumps). Unfortunately, I wasn't able to keep track of what happened to Archie and the gang. Has Archie chosen between Betty and Ronnie? What happened to the gans after a long while?
No reason :) Just wanna check if there are fellow myLotters who are also read Archie comics :)

Yes, I remember them well; I'm not sure if I used to read them, but they were once very familiar to me; red-haired Archie, Betty and Veronica, yes they were once very famous. Perhaps they should make a contemporary updated movie centred around the Archie comics; that would be great. Ah yes I seem to remember Reggie too...
You have given me inspiration to check them out again and remind myself of them.

An Archie movie would be something to look forward to :P From what I know Archie comics is still running and release some special issues/editions but I'm not too sure about the details. Thanks a lot for the comment :)

To be honest I like reggie more than archie. lols. Its simply because the only thing a man love to do don't complain at all. Lets face it. Have you seen food complaining? lols. God has ten commandments. But girlfriend or wife? Lets face it they have more command then mends lols. Moose. You forgot Moose. lols.

Just today I picked up one from my collection and spent some time reading. Archie comics are for all ages and I have been reading right from the time I was a teenager. Of the characters I like Jughead the best! I have not bought any new ones and so would not know if there has been any change in the story.

We have the same favorite! I like Jughead's smart thinking and his attitude towards girls and food. Lol! It's quite funny that he dislike girls but have a little sister named Jellybean. Lol!

Archie's favourite food is I think ice cream but Jughead's it is food.
I only wish nothing has changed and they are still the innocent bunch of teenagers.

Why'd you say ice cream? I can't remember the time I read where Archie stated that his favorite is ice cream (since most of the time he's occupied with girl watching ) but yeah, Jughead just loves anything as long as it's related to food!

I used to read them a lot before. I had a classmate in high school who collected Archie comics. I like Veronica. And it's the same for me, I stopped reading after graduation because me and my classmates went to different colleges.

LOL that's just so true! Maybe that's also another reason why the company published a special issue on what will happen to Archie if he is to choose between Betty or Ronnie :)

I think you're referring to Betty and Veronica. Betty the blonde one, Veronica the brunette one :)

Hi keihimekawa!
I also love Archie comics but they are so expensive! What I did when I was in high school is I borrowed those comics from my classmate whose father was in the U.S. at that time. She used to receive lots of Archie comics through LBC! :) She was nice enough to lend me :) I know a site where you can download free Archie comic books. I was able to download so many series from isohunt.com Just type in "Archie comics" on the search bar at the top of the page and you will be directed to download using torrent :) You just need to have a comic reader installed. I use comic rack!
I also love R.L. Stine especially his series of Fear Street. I have a collection of that book. Some of which are still on my bookshelf. And of course, Christopher Pike! I so love those old books :) And who would forget Sweet Valley series?! Haaay.. it is so nice to reminisce on the old times :)
Oh by the way, I also love Jughead. He is very funny :)

Archie comics used to be cheaper way back :P Currently, they ranged around 150-175 pesos each and it's thinner than the old "Double Digest" You're lucky to have a friend who lets you borrow her Archie comics :D I'll try checking online for the comics too
I love Goosebumps and RL Stine but I never am an avid reader of Sweet Valley and Nancy Drew. I don't know why but most of my female friends are crazy about it but I didn't enjoy the books as much as they did. Lol!

Nancy Drew is actually a nice read but once you get too many of this series, you will somehow get bored since you can figure out how Nancy solves every mystery. Just like depicting the ending of a story just because it is written by the same author.
There is a booksale in Ayala MRT where they have Archie comics for just P30. Nobody takes notice so I'm waiting for them to go down to P20 {hopefully even P10} and then I will buy them all ^_^

Oh yes i already read archie comics way back in my grade school but i just borrow it from a friend because i find it a bit expensive, and i'd rather buy Sweet Valley Twins lol.. but i did enjoy reading them, i love Betty! I also do not know what happened if who Archie chose!! I also read RL Stine and Goosebumps!

For some reason I've never been an avid reader of Sweet Valley books. I think I lean more on the horror genre Lol! It's great to know another fellow RL Stine and Goosebumps reader :) I love those Goosebumps book where you get to choose an ending by following the direction at every end of the page. Like, if you choose A, go to page 76; If B, page 103 :D
I love Jughead a lot! I read somewhere that a special Archie edition was released where it showed 2 possible sides of relationship. What Archie's life will be if he's married to Betty and what's his life will be if he decided to marry Veronica :)

When I was in high school I love to reach archie. But right now. I don't. I don't know its because I'm in 30's now. Unlike when your teenager right? I'm wondering if archie is still popular among youth today. Or archie right now is not as popular as before. Is their still archie comics for sale?

I'm quite sure kids nowadays have different takes on what to read so Archie might not be as popular as before but there are still Archie comics up for sale and as shared by someone (sorry I forgot who said it) a few replies above this, there an iPhone app for Archie comics :)

That's great to hear I sometimes buy it if I have enough money :P Jughead's also my favorite! Are you referring to "Little Archie"? He's so cute and it's funny to see Little Betty and Veronica fight over him at such a young age

Can I be Veronica? I've seen them on shelf and picked one up while waiting in line at the super market but did not buy one. I just did not feel the same as I did when I was really inside those pages walking around the neighbourhood. Is it imagination deficit or was it too many other things to read issues?

I envy Veronica because of her wealth XD Maybe we just outgrew reading Archie since we have a lot of choices to choose from and our interest varies from our childhood days :D

I still have all of my Archie Comics collection and I keep them in a bookshelf securely and obsessive-compulsively. LOL! I guess the new generation doesn't know a lot about them because new batches of comics can now be downloaded in pdf files or read online. I used to hate meany Veronica and I always vote for cool Betty for Archie! :D Who would forget Mr. Weatherbee and Miss Grundy? How about Hot Dog and Mr. Svenson? I can still recall most of the stories up to now and I still grab some time reading the comic books again. :D

wow a fellow reader of Archie comics. I was too a reader and i stopped when i upgraded to books such as goosebumps and other horror-like books. all of my lunch money goes to books. however, just a few months ago i came across Archie comics as an application for iPhone and i downloaded them, i've missed the whole gang! betty and veronica fighting over archie, reggie being in love with ronnie, moose and of course jughead and his hamburgers! i guess, no one really knows who archie had chosen between ronnie and betty. but one thing is for sure, the gang will never be forgotten.
