the other night, a neighbor tried to kill himself by putting a gun on his head. it happened just a little farther away from my main door. i heard he is now in coma at the hospital.
i live alone although sometimes my granddaughter stays with me. yesterday, i came home very tired and my eyes almost closing as i was very sleepy already. i opened the screen door first, and then opened the main door and the switch to have light. but then something moved on the door, right there next to my hand and if i have not covered my mouth, i would have shouted.
it was a lizard about 5 or 7 inches long (including its tail). i got startled and jumped and it did too and it ran away! afterwards when it was calmer, i was laughing like crazy. tears were in my eyes due to laughing. i was glad no one was watching though.
have you ever experienced being startled? you find it funny afterwards or do you get angry for acting that way?

Well I have tried getting startled a few times already. There were times when it made me laughed but there were also times when it made me angry for being so scared. I hope your neighbor gets well soon.

Yeah that sure is true. I've experienced laughing and crying at the same time. When we laugh about something too much, sometimes I suddenly become teary eyed. Have a nice day as well.

One night, mother-in-law said that there seemed to be a man in our porch, while we were having dinner. I looked at the closed window from the dining room , and it indeed looked like there was one.
My brother-in-law went to the receiving room to see if the porch indeed has man lurking. We were adamant that he shouldn't open the window.
When he went there he discovered, it was the reflection of a plant whose leaves are moving outside . He then opened the window to see.
How we laughed at our unnecessary fear!

No I usually am still too scared to laugh. I'm glad it just a lizard.
Please send my best wishes to your neighbor's family.

It must have been finances And something else!
No. I haven't seen a lizard outside of a zoo or a book.

hi sarah,
police were investigating and they seem to have the theory of the wife shooting the husband due to domestic problems. neighbors are talking it was due to finances. goodness!! it is not a reason to shoot and especially it is her husband.
yes am sure glad it was just a lizard. have you had a lizard crawl on your arm?

Well, I have been startled but not to the point of screaming. I always laugh at things like that. Although this part of the discussion is humorous, the part about your neighbor is not. I think that is no laughing matter. I hope he is going to be okay. I don't know why you started this discussion with that bit of information. But, anyway, the being startled thing is always funny, especially when it's witnessed by someone.

I myself also experienced something like that especially when I am not in my mood. I am easily startled even into simple things just like tiny animals in particular (spiders). And when I do I can't help myself but to cry because of fright and fear.

hi oji,
i usually shriek out of fright.
but then i thought it was really humorous because both me and the lizard were startled. the lizard might have thought - run for your life!! that was why i was laughing afterwards. i really find that very humorous!
have you seen those videos on youtube where something just comes out of the screen (a witch, a zombie face.. etc) and it would really frighten you.
