The keyboard on my Toshiba laptop is acting up. Some of the letters won't show on the screen, other will type twice. I looked online and someone mentioned a spyware scan, which I did, to no avail. I do not know much about the 'innards' of laptops....could I need a keyboard driver update? If so how to do that.Any help would be appreciated....this is getting very annoying. I vacuumed the keyboard lst night. I have taken apart regular keyboards to clean them, but do not ant to take th back off my laptop. Please help. I cannot mylot, until get this fixed.

I think it's not a virus, my laptop also acting weird too. Sometimes that mouse pointer/cursor appears randomly somewhere in my spreadsheet or word processor. The thing is, whenever I am typing in MS Word, sometimes the mouse cursor go to the end of the line or middle or at the beginning. That's so weird, I don't know how to fix it. Is someone knows it?

For your jumping cursor issue, I generally have the option set in control panelpointing devices, to hide the cursor while typing. That may help with your jumping cursor.

I am not sure whether it is the result of virus forayed your computer system which cause the keyboard acting weird. What if that is the keyboard problem itself, not anything else? You might need to replace the keypad? Or you might have to replace the whole laptop system itself.

my keyboard (also laptop) has been doing something odd too. i will type one letter and it will randomly type a number or another letter no where near the one i typed on the keyboard. it happened after i had watched videos on a stores site to earn coupons. i know the site was safe but it ticked off something in my pc. a couple of days later it stopped. now its every once in awhile and i scanned it with 3 different programs

The first question that comes to mind is whether you might have spilled something on the keyboard of your laptop. I know that is a problem that we've had many times with our computers and we've had to either clean out the keyboard or in the case of our desktop computers, we will have to replace the keyboards. If that isn't the case, then it could be that your computer is infected with a virus that has not been defined with your antivirus software. I would recommend to download Microsoft Security Essentials and scan your computer with that.

Well my friend, It could happened because of two things.. Either the virus has infected your engine or hardware problem of your keypad.. I had experience same thing when I typed something but not shown on screen or change to funny words everytime I typed any words..If nothing wrong with virus so your next step is to check the hardware, most probably you need to clean or replace your keypad..cheerz

I think you should do driver updates on your computer, especially keyboard driver update. Probably you didn't update and it causes the keyboard to be buggy. by the way, i know of a free tech support site that can help. Go to protonic.com and register as a client and submit your ticket/ the issue to them. One of those techs that are good at keyboard hardware will help. I'm tech over there but im used to knowing spyware and viruses than of hardware.
