Hi All Been hearing/reading so much about BURNT FOOD. My family loves eating bbq, roasts, grilled meat, kebabs, shawarmas but lately a friend told me not to char the food in a conventional griller using coal since she said it causes carcinogens which is cancerous. She advised me to use electric grillers instead. Is that a fact? How come some restaurant serving grilled meat says their food are healthy telling the fat on the meat dripped off during the grilling process? Is this true? Are vegetbles and fruits on kebabs and other grilled veggie food also causes carcinogens? Hope some of our doctors and food experts enlighten us. Thanks.

hi palepurple as far as i could remember these carcinogens would help develop cancer in our body. all of us has the potential to have cancer but some do not develop this because they have lesser or minimal or they have lower intake of foods rich in carcinogens. when we take in burnt foods we take a lot of the carcinogens. we have to take the foods in moderation and we have to be very cautious of it's content. i am not really familiar of the myths of burnt food.lol! hope this information helped.

oh i didn't know that. thanks for the additional information. yes, we should really be careful since a lot of things we intake now would somehow contribute to that sickness and not only that but also the people we encounter and the activities we do everyday could also add on to that condition. maybe it's the person's destiny if he/she get's cancer. let's just all be alert and aware for some body changes and we should always pray. have a good day!

Burnt foods have carcinogen that is true, so avoid consuming them. For this reason I avoid grilled food cooked in charcoals. Yes it is better to use electric grill. We need to be really careful about our health. We only have one life and should we not take care of it, we are guilty of killing our own self. Watch what you eat lest you kill yourself with them.

That's basically my point why I opened the topic - to find proven truth and views on how bad the effect of burnt food in us all. We only have one body to take care of thus we need to know them. Thanks pal.

I have heard that too that food cooked on charcoals can cause cancer. I think the bottom line here is again moderation. It will hurt if a small portion is eaten and only occasionally.

Yeah i listened about this but i am not sure about this.I think burnt food will loose their nutritious quality after exposing the meet to more heat. Then whats the need of eating it even it is not giving us health.

Thanks anusha128. I agree to the fact that exposing the meat to excessive heat to the point of charring or burning them is not healthy anymore. But for those who love to eat grlled food, there is that clout that its not anymoe healhy. Grilled food have by all means bits of charred portions. Some big and visible parts can be scraped off but I'm sure there would be residue which cannot be seen and still can be eaten unknowingly. If we eat grilled food often, will these small quantities of charred porions remain in the body and eventually developas carcinogens and become cancer risks? Or this assumption is just a myht?
