How about installing a server OS on a laptop?

Just as the title suggest, that's my new idea. I currently have a Windows 7 running in my laptop for quite some time now, and as every Windows installation it's beginning to aging, ie, it's becoming slower and slower. In some time, I would prefer to perform a full reinstall of the system instead of trying to fix it, again like most Windows installations.
But here comes the deal. Which OS to install? The same Windows 7 again? Or change the operating system? A few websites tell about the possibility of installing Windows Server 2008 R2 instead. That's basically the server version of Windows 7, and to mood it into a workstation system. While it may sound crazy, I liked the idea enough to open this discussion and to try it in a virtual machine too, and so far it worked very well.
Also thinking that server OSs are generally quite more stable and faster that regular ones, but the problem is that they may carry some more compatibility issues with programs they aren't supposed to run.
Any suggestions? Have someone tried something like that?

Good Idea.. But, wastage of money and no special use of installing server OS on a laptop. What is the need Server Portability??

I'm not meaning to build a real server on a laptop, rather just use a server oriented OS as it if were a regular workstation, somewhat like using Windows 2008 like Win7. Also it has some nice extra features and most important is much more stable than anything else.
And also, it has up to 240 days of free trial.
