Would it be a good idea to use personal situations as a book idea? i would change the names of the people of course but i think the greatest insperation comes from lifes experiences. If alot of people think this is a good idea then maybe I will start writing a journal.

Like most things, the content of the book is often less important than the message it expresses (and how it's expressed). If you've had a pretty normal life, it's unlikely to sell well or be popular - people want to read about overcoming adversity, finding peace, that kind of thing. A positive message is pretty important.

I completely agree with you spike, People will not read anyone's book just to know whom she met, what she ate, who else are there in her family, etc. There should be some good story with some positive message like Spike said above.

I agree the story needs to jump out and shout something to readers who pick it up. Like spike said people like stories with a message of some sort whether its coming to a realization, overcoming adversity or finding peace, even books like how to make whatevers can be popular as long as it is interesting.

People don't read books just to know what happened in his/her life as normal what everyone does. You have to go back in past and see your life and choose any incident on which you can write about. Like years of your college, I read a book on this topic and it was very very good. The author is one of the best selling author here. Although people not read these biography of normal living persons but sometimes it is exceptional. I know one writer here who writes weekly for a daily newspaper. He writes about his daughter, how she is growing, what words she shout first, etc. and the column is really a hit among the readers. You can also think of any niche like this and it can be a good reading entertainment.

I agree dara, you need to make it unique from the other memoir novels out there. SOmething specific in your life that you overcame or things you learned because of something. I read one recently "Blue Like JAzz' it was a guys personal journey through religion and how he felt, and doubted. It was pretty good.

Laura Ingalls Wilder, Cory Ten Boom, Anne Frank indeed there are many great books that's become front running non-fiction classics in history!

That's right. But, even if you don't publish your journal, still, it's worth doing. Although I have not written a journal consistently, I still manage to do so when I find the time and I'm feeling strong emotions. When I write, it's as if I'm speaking to my self. Years later, you will read those journals again and be amazed. I love reading the entries I wrote many, many years ago. Though, I agree with you, sometimes I think they're worthy to be in a published book.

I think it's good.lol, once i read a book which tells about a backpacker. He write down all about his stories in many places. It's an amazing experience for me.So i think wring down about one's own experience is really a good idea.

Yeah. It is a very good idea. But remember to spice it up a little with bit of fiction. The real experiences make it more real, people can relate to the book and the fiction adds a bit of spice that makes reality much more gullible and tasty. Khaled Hosseini's the kite runner was a semi autographical novel. Even some say to kill a mocking bird is one.
