From last some days I am seeing 2 users asking very useless question.. like how to start windows service? how to check screen resolution etc
where from his earlier question history I can clearly see that he/she is a technical person and knows almost everything he is asking.. even not doing any care to make best answer or to comment on given response..
do you think I should not reply such mylot user? or do you response such person?

Many people ask questions, especially about computers and the Internet, which seem to have common and very obvious answers or ones which they could easily find the answers to by searching. Sometimes one is inclined to find this irritating but you have to always remember that not everyone is familiar with computers or the Internet and for some it is all new and somewhat scary. Asking such questions on a forum like this is really a way of gaining confidence - what they are REALLY trying to find out is that they are not alone in having the problem (as well as, of course, getting a satisfactory answer).
There are actually MANY different reasons that people have for asking questions. Sometimes the REAL reason is not given at all. If a user seems to you to be asking questions to which they already know the answer, it is puzzling, I agree but sooner or later watching that person's posts may reveal the real reason. If you are concerned that someone may be abusing MyLot's excellent forum in some way, the best thing to do would be to send a PM to GoAskAlice with details of what you think or suspect may be a problem. Try to give as much specific evidence that you can to support your concern. If a user starts to post things which are inconsistent with previous posts, for example, it may be that the account has been hacked or is being used by a different person.

owlwings I once had a prof in philosophy who maintained there are no stupid questions but those who do not ask questions may be stupid. so maybe those are not completely useless questions either.perhaps the person is not that sure of his knowledge and wants someone to show him he is correct. I hate all this judging of
others on here as 99 percent of the time the judges are all wet.

I agree even questions that seems to be "stupid" can really be interesting, informative and helpful we just have to open our mind and try to understand what the topic is really all about. It maybe out of topic but I want to cite an example, before telephone and cellphone exist the idea that you can talk to someone far away really sounds impossible and "stupid".

hi lovedude not everyone here is computer literate to the point of nerdism and also o ne persons useless question is another's I was there once and this is how I did it.I am not a computer nerd either and I have been know to ask some questions but useless? who the heck are you to tell me whether or not my question is useless? a guru on computers? I try to help wherever I can and how I answer questions is my own business. Sometimes people just need help and if you do not like it go away as there are plenty of other discussions here on mylot.do not mock them if you must reply and try not to be sarcastic either. If I do not like the discussion or do not want to respond I go on to another one.

I do think these are questions with obvious solutions/answers that normally can be found on her own laptop or PC itself... and of course by just browsing the wed, you'll be able to find a lot of different forums and blogs or websites that talks about technical stuff and resolving issues such as those they posted as a discussion here.
Did their discussion gain a lot of response? I would guess, No? Well all we can do with that is to ignore and select those discussions we're more interested with. And to answer your question, sometimes I do answer thinking the person really needs help. but sometimes I don't like giving an answer when I feel that the discussion is something like a 'Yes or No' kinda thing.

a pleasant day lovedude,
with reference to your main topic discussion, maybe the one who raised that question wants another opinion and insights which will be coming from different persons. aside from that, maybe that guy wants to make sure that what he/she will be doing is the proper way and procedure.
just give the benefit. what important is, you was able to give them the answers to their query.
have a nice day.

Maybe I will just ignore. There's a lot of useful and full of sense discussions here that we can answer.

Sometimes people post just to start a discussion. Thinking it will help them earn something. It is very irritating to see such posts. I keep surfing for interesting discussions and it becomes a bit difficult to do so. I dont care about my earning, but atleast their should be some substance to the post. Althought the admin deletes the useless posts, but still some of them pass it. I dont mean any offense to anyone. But even after searching in discussions of my interest, I dont happen to find many. That is really sad.
