Is it necessary for a man to undergo a painful ritual to prove his manhood?

A lot of different cultures in the world have a different painful rites of passage for a boy wanting to enter manhood. But when you go to urban areas, being responsible and having the capacity to provide financial support is already enough to consider yourself as a man. Which do you think is better and more acceptable to human society?

It is actually optional. My brother for that matter is not circumcised but I am, it doesn't bother either of us. Culture, religion and geography are probably are the top 3 reasons why a boy undergo circumcision. Also, I agree with the previous response that is has and medical benefits and adds up to your overall hygiene. After all of those said, I would say that a man is not a man because he is circumcised, rather a man is measure by the love he can provide to his wife, children and family.

I think depends on your family and culture. For myself, I would advise a man to go for it . This is because it has been proved through studies that those men who are circumcised are less likely to get STI and hygienically are better than those or who are not. To me is more on health than ability to provide.
