So I finally watched Conan The Barbarian starring Jason Momoa. I know it got terrible reviews and oh it was such a crap movie. Well I disagree. I think everyone and their neighbors were just stuck on the whole thing that Arnold was Conan and no one else can ever be Conan.
The movie is honestly what I would expect from a Conan movie which is bloody violent and a lot of topless women. If you expect more than that from a Conan movie you are deluding yourself to begin with. I say that because that is exactly what Conan is about. Get laid kill something eat and get laid some more rinse and repeat.
Now going out of the movies and into the general look of Conan. If you follow the books or comics at all, Then Jason Momoa is what Conan is supposed to look like. Look at any of Frazetta's artwork or anything and Conan is always depicted as this wiry deceiving look of a barbarian that many wouldn't expect to do what he can.
Even a few of the books that actually defined him had him stated as such. Arnold was never even close to Conan if you take that into consideration. Now The stories are quite similar but different at the same time through the movies, most notably the growing up of Conan. And you know what I like the new one better.
Have any of you seen it? What do you think of the differences hah? I am trying to keep this spoiler free for the most part though so please try and do that as well.

Arnold wasn't even that great of a Conan. A barbarian is just that. Frazetta is a great artist but even the best can draw what they see in their mind. I haven't seen the movie yet. I am sure there will always be someone who doesn't agree with who they get to portray different characters on the big screen.

Isn't Jason Momoa the one that was on SG Atlantis? He is very good looking and, I think, a very good actor. Game of THrones is a great show. I am definitely a fan.

I agree with you totally on Arnold. Hopefully people don't get me wrong here though, I enjoyed his movies as well. And yes your right they draw what they see in their mind but I really feel he captured what I saw while I read the books not the comics. And when Conan was cast as Arnold when I first saw those movies, I knew he was cast because he was a big guy at the time and nothing more. It is essentially the same here with this movie honestly. If you watched Game of Thrones Jason Momoa shows why he was cast in that series.

You know what I forgot about SG Atlantis honestly yeah he is there. Very predominantly. He is a good actor though and the role suites him quite well. and Game Of Thrones is awesomeness.

I finished downloading the movie last night from torrent, after lunch I will surely watch this awesome movie, about the review I think we have the right if we want to like a movie or dislike it, since we all had the ability to watch it or not after that we can rate it if we want it or not.

I agree we do have the review aspects and every right. I however think it is wrong of the ones that base it off of The original movies because they are not meant to be compared honestly.

yes true..this new one stay really close or seems a lot the new conan comic book..
but the 70s or 80s comic is closer to the Movie with arnold..folowed by Destroyer..and red sonja..where it follows the comic boook(the 80s one) where conan married red sonja..(or some biatch.not sure who)and end to the comic..
the new comic has a new Son of conan..or something.Kazar? is it?

I did like this one. For the reason I stated that it is actually closer to the books and the comics that are where Conan got his start.
I don't like really comparing the movies but must say that Conan was silent only because Arnie could not speak that well still.
I think if this new one had come out when the original did it would have been the high mark of the year. I agree that now it probably should have been a TV movie or mini series based on how it turned out, but it is still good.
