Someone tried to set me up last week.

My husband had taken me to a visit at my gastroenterologist's office and we decided to go to Taco Bell to get something cheap to eat afterwards. I opened my car door as much as I could and squeezed out because the car next to us had parked too close. We had just gotten our food and walked over and sat down when a younger woman came storming in. She started yelling that I hit her car. I told her that I didn't think that I had and she insisted. Her boyfriend then tried to claim that I hit her car door with so much force that it shook the whole car. Keep in mind that I could barely open the car door nevertheless fling it open hard enough to shake the car next to me. The woman stood in front of our table and two guys stood beside her like they were confronting me. After a few minutes, they wanted to know our insurance information. They had not even asked for our names just the insurance information. I looked through my wallet and told them I did not have the information on me. They wanted my husband to give them the car insurance number to submit a claim. They were claiming that I had opened the door so hard that I chipped the paint and scratched the car door all the way across. After a few minutes of this confrontation I began to get upset and said that it had been a bad day. Now all I wanted to do was sit down and eat a meal with my family in peace. Was that too much to ask for? I began getting more upset and they decided to head for the door. I told my husband that maybe we should call the police. These people had come in making false accusations against me and getting me upset and I am a heart patient. I have tachycardia which becomes agitated more when I am upset or stressed. The people turned around and were going to come back in and start more trouble when my husband decided he had enough. He stood up and started walking towards the door. The woman and her boyfriend and the other guy who had already been inside got in their cars and fled the scene. Now my husband isn't a little guy- he is six foot and weighs around 350 pounds. After they left, we went out and inspected the car door. There was no paint on our car door not even a scratch. It is amazing what people will do to try and get money. If my husband had not been with me, I probably would have fallen for their scam.

Linda I am so sorry this happened to you. You hear about it happening on all those court shows, etc. I have missed seeing you around lately. I hope you are resting up well. I think when they confronted you if you had immediately said "Let's call the police." They would have been out of there in a flash. This is another form of bullying in my book and they should be called on it.
