Hi, I am new here and I would like to know how does the system with the positive rating works. If I like your answers/questions I rate positive, but does this helps other members to gain something or it is important just to create questions and post answers to the topics?
Finally, I would like to know how much is the reward for posting if anyone can inform me! Thanks :)

They have a complicated logarithm to figure out payment, but it is about 1 penny a post for a nice length post of decent quality. You won't get rich, but it's fun and every once in a while you fin that you have $10 in your PayPal account.
The rating are for good content, or positive contributions, or something you find interesting. You can totally disagree with someone but still give them a positive rating.
Don't use the negative until you are here a while. It is for posts that are so bad they distract from the conversation. But we have some people here with weird senses of humor and they will post things that may seem off the wall at first. Later when you get to know us, you will know who is a bit warped and accept it as part of who they are. Actually most of us are a bit odd. We are all just odd in different ways.

Hi! Thank you so much for the informations!
I always rate positively and if I don't like something I just don't rate it. I believe that one by one the + rate can help others gain reputation and make them happier as I do when I see my star going up, so I give it to all people that try to contribute in a discussion positively.
Everyone is different here, I realised that and it's interesting to have a variety of opinions. I've actually learned many things from the few discussions that I've started or participated so far.
Thank you again Catlady!!

You can still rate positive even if you don't like what someone said as long as they said it in a well thought out manor. I gave a woman a best answer once even though her opinions were exact opposite of mine. We were discussing tattoos. I think they are yucky and stupid and foolish and all that. She disagreed and saw them as art. She wrote about tattoos as self expression and really did a good job of stating her point. It deserved best response.

@besweet Oh man I remember the star ratings back then! I was here too during the old MyLot format. This post brought back memories.
