Recently, I have read an advertisement about a home pregnancy test kit that says it is accurate from the first day of the missed period. This advertisement is misleading because I think, even for the 9th day of the missed period, urine pregnancy tests are still unreliable. What do you think?

I think that you say is wrong. The chemical substance used to determine the amount of the hormone produced as soon as you became pregnante is too specific and can detect a traces of the hormone. And at the same time this hormone is eliminated through the orine and we can detect traces in orine brfore blod tests

You see, I have a colleague that had performed a urine test when she was delayed for a week. She got a one line in the pregnancy test so that it means negative. After two months, she was really sure that she is pregnant so she had another urine test. That time, the result was positive with 2 red lines. As turned out, she was two months pregnant. We couldn't say that the pregnancy test kit was defective because if it was, then no lines should appear.

Well just to be safe, if a woman wants to be sure if she is pregnant. Blood testing is the 100 % sure. Even at the earliest stage of pregnancy, pregnancy testing through blood test is the most accurate.

it seems like to work for some. But there are different types of pregnancy kit, some may require that you must be 2months or more pregnant before it can detect positively whether or not you're pregnant. You can confirm pregnancy by visiting an OB-GYNE.

Yes, that is the simplest thing to do. When still in doubt visit an OB.

I personally do believe they are quite accurate, but they can be faulty or show false negatives if you test too early. False positives rarely ever happen. If you don't trust one test, then try several. I did when I found out I was pregnant back in April, I tested one test in the evening and three more the next day. All were accurate except for one that was faulty. The faulty one was the most expensive as well!

Yep, that's what I am talking about. Although, urine tests can be accurate, with early pregnancy detection, there can be a problem. Women should repeat the test after a week or two.

Urine Pregnancy Test can't be reliable because sometimes it can't detect early pregnancy. So those home pregnancy test kits can't really accurately say the truth. The most accurate pregnancy test is the one that uses blood.

I agree with you at some degree. It is almost impossible to detect pregnancy that early using a an over the counter pregnancy test kit. Though with regard to reliability of pregnancy test kit, I would say that it is reliable enough since my housemate used it when she noticed that she missed her menstruation for a week. The test shows she is pregnant and when she went to an OB to confirm it, it was found out that she was actually 8 weeks pregnant. The pregnancy test kit's reliability mainly depends on the brand and the company that makes it.
