Live with 10 dollars

I recently watched some documentary on National Geographic about how to survive in the middle of the nature. My discussion is not about surviving in the middle of the nature but in the urban jungle. Monthly expenses are different from country to country. Some of us may find 500 dollars a month just enough for a decent living while others would think this can be enough for only one week or so. But how about 10 dollars? How much days (hours?) would you survive in the urban jungle with only 10$? How much do you think you need to survive in this jungle? Who do you think could survive with only 10$ a month?

I can survive for probably a week or two for that amount of money. I don't really need a lot. I have friends who works in restaurant so I will have free meals there. Food is the most important thing and that pretty much is already covered.

Oh, it seems that you have low prices for food in your country. I would barely buy food for two days with 10$ and you say you can survive for a week with this amount! How about the expenses for renting a room or for transportation? How are they in your country?

The cost of living in my home country is expensive. I could survive for one or two hours with $10 here. Going to the supermarket not much food or drink could be bought for just $10. It would be a loaf of bread, one liter of fruit juice, an apple, a banana and a bag of nuts. Transport is pricey: petrol in a car, a train ticket or a bus ticket. I live in the United Kingdom.

Oh, it really is expensive. The food is only a small part of the daily expenses. We should also consider the expenses for rent, for heating, for health or for distractions.
