What makes you feel better?

Often times many people find comfort in food - do you?
Or are you like some of the people who are comforted by words from friends?
Or do you find comfort being alone, maybe in prayers, or in meditation, or in places where you can think and just be able to have peace?
Have you sometimes felt too that you felt better when you are in a crowd of people? like you knew that you are not alone and it makes you feel better in the company of people?

Hi!
Talking to my friends and mylotting make me feel comfortable.
Sharing my thoughts with my friends both off line and on line, and listening to others comforts me.
Staying alone rather sitting idle makes me feel uneasy.
I wish to remain busy all day.

Thanks for your response! :D
I guess a lot of people are like you. Finding comfort in people, with friends and mylot too. hehe forums does make people feel at home because they get to share themselves and we know someone is listening (or reading our thoughts.)
we all find comfort in doing a lot of things we know that will benefit us. it is really rewarding, right? when you are busy and it gets done and you liked the output of your discussions, etc.

In my case, I think that it does depend. Sometimes, I do find comfort in food. It has happened. But sometimes, I do also find comfort in others as well. I find that my husband does bring me the most comfort, although I would say that he's the only one. However, he is definitely the one who brings me the most comfort and the most often.

I have to be already happy to enjoy a crowd. I never can understand how food could make a person feel better. When I'm upset the Last thing I can think about is eating! The only thing that makes me feel better is talking with my best friend. He can Always give me hope.

I find comfort in sleep. To be totally relaxed and fully unaware of anything that is happening around me. Besides that, I find comfort in holding a little kitten in my hand.

It depends on what has me down on that day. Sometimes I'll go to my girlfriend for comfort, but most of the time I resort to my best friend because he's like my other half. He thinks exactly the same I do, but differently enough that he can offer insights that I haven't yet thought of. He's currently multiple states away, though, so I don't turn to him as much. Sometimes I'll turn to other friends to see what they say, but to be honest, they're just not as helpful as he is.
I never really return to food as comfort though. I usually try to distract myself by playing video games, watching videos or movies, or writing on MyLot. I find that distracting myself helps get rid of my problem more than anything else.

These are the things that I do to make me feel better:
1. Eating sweets (chocolates, cakes, ice cream and etc.)- Although it makes me feel better (I have a weakness when it comes to sweets) but it made me gain weight which is not really good. I remember one time when I was really stressed and down, I actually gained 10 lbs
2. Sleeping the whole day or half of it. - This is a form of escape and has a temporary effect because when you wake up, you still have to face those problems.
3. Talking with friends - Some people would say that why do you have to tell others your problems when they have their problems of their own and they don't really care. Actually, TRUE FRIENDS care a lot. I realized this when I met 3 amazing girls who, no matter how busy they are still have time to listen to my rants. Although this doesn't completely solve you're problem but it gives comfort especially the POWER HUGS!
4. Get it over with! - Face it, there are times that you just have to do it and finish it. This actually gives me a sense of accomplishment and comfort.
and when all else fails, then:
5. Prayer - I find peace and comfort everytime I pray or go to church. I don't know why but probably it is faith that someone is listening to you and would help you in times of distress. I can't brag about my faith though because I sometimes fail HIM but I can brag about HIM because HE never fails me.

good day chiyosan,
before, i really feel better when i am spending my days with my family. as they are my inspiration in everything that i do. but now, its not anymore. i can say that i can feel better if i will be away from them. since, they are the reason why i feel so much pain in my heart.
how i wish, God answers my prayers. that, he will take away me from this home.

I personally find comfort in food, but not in eating. What I mean is I find it very comforting to prepare food, especially for people I care about. I also enjoy relaxing with cookbooks and planning menus.

I find comfort in my room. I take a good nap specially when I'm exhausted. I find surfing the net and connecting with my friends through social networking as comforting aswell. I also get comforted when my parens and siblings call me or I call them. I worked from from them and just hearing their okay is already comforting. I also like to be in our apartment because I live with my crush(LOL!). He alsways inspires me though I think the feeling is not mutual.

Knitting and sewing makes me feel better now since i dropped my cross stitch needles. I fell better when I am knitting some pattern although i am only a beginner. This knitting makes my eyes and hands coordination fantastic.

Well for me, I will feel comforted when I am with my daughter and my wife. When my daughters plays with me, all the stress that have filed up for the day will be wiped out immediately. And when my wife hugs and kisses me, I feel that there is no problem that I could not solve.

I feel better when I listen to my favorite music. Whenever I'm feeling down, exhausted or just not feeling good I just listen to my favorite songs and eventually I will feel more relax. And of course spending time with my girl also makes me feel better.

Hi chiyosan!
I have three answers for this question.
1. Sleep - whenever I feel sad or terribly down, I just sleep and dreams comfort me so much. When I wake up, the sadness is still there, yes, but somehow I forget them a little.
2. Books - I am a book lover. book rat. book addict. Whatever you call it. I like to read about other people and focus on them instead of on me.
3. Movies - watching movies take my mind off whatever it is that makes me sad
Now, having written those I realize that escaping reality makes me feel better. There.
^_^ Good day and have a lovely evening!

I love to eat, but I don't resort to it to find comfort. I find comfort more in looking at beautiful photographs. I often spend time on Flickr, just looking at some of the nice photos there. I also find comfort in nice open fields, grassy knolls, and warm sunsets. Doesn't matter if there are a lot of people or not, just the general locale is good enough for me to find comfort. :)
